The afternoon sun warmed the highlands, casting a bright glare over the deep, dark waters of Loch Ness. The Kirkland siblings were standing on the rocky shore.
Ainsley Kirkland was the personification of Scotland. Arthur Kirkland was the personification of England. Dylan Kirkland was the personification of Wales. Bridget Kirkland was the personification of Northern Ireland.
Ainsley was tall and slim. She had fair skin, green eyes, and perfectly arched eyebrows. Her chest-length straight brown hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She was wearing a red raincoat that was zipped up to her chest, a light grey merino wool sweater, black merino wool socks, black knee-length rain boots, and black nylon pants with slim-fit legs. Her pants were tucked into her boots.
Dylan was tall. He had fair skin, green eyes, and bushy eyebrows. His straight blond hair hung just above his ears. His bangs were parted to the left and stopped just above his eyebrow. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing an olive green raincoat that was zipped up to his chest, a white merino wool sweater, black merino wool socks, black knee-length rain boots, and black nylon pants with slim-fit legs. His pants were tucked into his boots.
Arthur was tall. He had fair skin, green eyes, and bushy eyebrows. His straight blond hair hung just above his ears. His bangs were parted to the left and stopped just above his eyebrow. He was clean-shaven. His body was slender but muscular. He was wearing a navy blue raincoat that was zipped up to his chest, a white merino wool sweater, black merino wool socks, black knee-length rain boots, and black nylon pants with slim-fit legs. His pants were tucked into his boots.
Bridget was tall and slim. She had fair skin, green eyes, and perfectly arched eyebrows. Her chest-length straight red hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She was wearing a forest green raincoat that was zipped up to her chest, a dark grey merino wool sweater, black merino wool socks, black knee-length rain boots, and black nylon pants with slim-fit legs. Her pants were tucked into her boots.
Dylan adjusted his coat, looking around the isolated beach. Bridget sighed, crossing her arms. Arthur looked annoyed, his eyebrows knitted together.
"What are we doing here?" Bridget asked.
Ainsley turned around, smiling mischievously. "I'd like you to meet a friend of mine."
Ainsley cupped her hands over her mouth and yelled, "Nessie! Come here, girl!"
Arthur, Dylan, and Bridget exchanged a bewildered glance.
Arthur, Dylan, and Bridget gathered in a semi-circle behind Ainsley, giving her a funny look. Arthur opened his mouth to scold her for acting like a lunatic, but the words caught in his throat.
A massive splash broke the calm surface of the water. The water surged, and a large, long-necked green creature rose majestically into the air. Arthur, Dylan, and Bridget took a step back, their eyes widening.
Ainsley smiled warmly. She stepped up to the water's edge, reaching out to give the creature a pat on the head.
Bridget was in awe. Her jaw dropped.
"Oh, my gosh," Bridget breathed.
Dylan was in shock. "Holy shit," he whispered, staring at the dinosaur-like creature.
"Bloody hell!" Arthur's hands trembled slightly as he stared at the sea monster. "Is that..."
Ainsley turned to her siblings, her smile widening with pride. "Everyone, I'd like you to meet the Loch Ness Monster, better known as Nessie."
Nessie let out an affectionate rumble. She leaned forward, nuzzling her head against Ainsley's shoulder. Ainsley chuckled, giving Nessie a pat on the snout.
Arthur swallowed his fear and took a step closer to Nessie. The sea monster tilted her head, looking at him with a curious, intelligent glint in her eyes.
Ainsley looked at her siblings and smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry. She won't bite. She might spray you with water, though."
Dylan and Bridget stepped forward. Nessie lowered her head, allowing the two of them to reach out. As their hands brushed against her smooth, wet skin, she leaned into the touch, letting out a purr.
Reassured by how sweet Nessie was being, Arthur finally plucked up the courage. He stepped forward, raising a hand.
Nessie's eyes narrowed playfully. She opened her mouth and let out a blast of water. The water hit Arthur in the face and soaked him from head to toe.
Arthur recoiled, sputtering and coughing as the water drenched his clothes and plastered his hair to his forehead. He stepped back, his face flushing red with anger.
"Sodding, prehistoric swamp lizard!" Arthur barked, wiping his eyes. "Bloody hell! I am the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and I will not be humiliated by an overgrown tadpole! You wretched, spiteful green menace!"
Ainsley burst into laughter. Dylan doubled over, laughing and pointing at his drenched brother. Bridget tried and failed to muffle her giggles behind her hands. Nessie let out a sound that pitched dangerously close to a smug snicker.
Despite the soggy start for Arthur, the Kirkland siblings stayed at the loch for a few more hours and interacted with Nessie. They had a wonderful time, although Arthur made sure to keep a safe distance.
