"Hi there, what can I get for you this evening?" Paisley asked the man who sat at the bar.
"Scotch on the rocks please."
"Coming right up." She smiled and went to get his drink.
"Actually can you make that a double."
"Sure thing." She replied.
"Pais you're on in five." Her boss Eric said from the other side of the bar.
"Sure thing boss." She flashed him a smile. "Here we are then." She handed the man his drink.
"Are you playing?" He asked her as he searched for his wallet.
"Oh yeah. Eric, my boss he puts me on when we are not busy and needs a spot or two filled."
"Cool, so are you an aspiring musician or is it a hobby?"
"Are you kidding I live and breath music. It's what I was born to do, Iv'e been playing since I was 6 years old."
"So if you don't mind my asking why do I find you behind a bar filling in here and there?"
"Well because the real world had other plans for me. I don't have the time to pursue music because I need to make sure I have a steady income coming in to pay for my mama'shealth care so I simply enjoy the few moments I have on stage here." She shrugged. The man simply nodded.
"Pais you're up."
"Wish me luck." She smiled at the guy before grabbing her guitar from behind the bar.
The man sat at the bar with his double scotch on the rocks and watched as the young woman made her way to the stage.
"Hey ya'll how ya'll doing tonight?" She asked. She received a few whoops and cheers. "So I have a new song I want to share with ya'll. I hope you like it." She smiled before she began to play.
"Come and sit here by the fire,
watch the flickering firelight,
let me touch your lips with mine.
Will you keep me warm tonight?"
Short guitar solo.
The man sitting at the bar grabbed his phone from his pocket and made a video call. When the perso on the other end picked up he simply said.
"Listen to this." Before pointing the camer at the stage as the girl continued her song.
"I've been here reminiscing.
Just feeling kind of sad,
wondering why angels love outlaws
And all the times we had.
We've been through Hell together,
feeling the pleasure and the pain.
Stood side by side against the world
In the sunshine and the rain
Outlaws live their lives on the edge.
Their castles built with sand,
Why angels fall in love with them
It's hard to understand.
So while we're sitting by this fire
And thinking of all the times you cried.
This outlaw loves his angel,
I want you forever by my side.
Outlaws live their lives on the edge
Their castles built with sand.
Why angels fall in love with them
It's hard to understand" She slowly brought the song to an end.
She played beautifully and the crowd responded well. The man looked back at the phone.
"I want to meet with her Buck." The voice on the other end said.
"Copy that. Bye now." He signed off.
"We love you Paisley." Someone cheered.
"You rock" Another called. They really liked her some even gave her a standing ovation.
When Paisley stepped back behind the bar the man smiled.
"You've got real talent and the world needs to hear it." He told her as he slid a card over the bar. Paisley smiling at his comment picked it up.
"Highway 65, Nashville. I don't understand." She said as she read the card aloud.
"My name is Bucky Dawes I am Highway 65's A&R I came here scouting for talent and we want you."
"Are you for real? Wow highway 65. Wasn't that Rayna Jaymes'." Bucky lowered his head. "Sorry, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to upset you."
"It's alright, yes her husband Deacon and I run it together and well I facetimed him during that performance and he wants to meet you."
"Wow really? Deacon Claybourne wants to meet me?" She sighed. "I feel like I'm in a dream right now, someone pinch me." She laughed.
"It's very real." Bucky reassured her.
"Wow. So uh how does this work? I mean do I need to go to Nashville or-"
"Well I'm headed back to Nashville in the morning. If you were able to join me you would have all expenses paid and we would put you up in a hotel for the night, also all expenses paid."
"Tomorrow... Wow I uh-" Eric walked up behind her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Go for it. You deserve it."He said to her overhearing the entire conversation.
Paisley looked back to Bucky. "Nashville here I come." She grinned for ear to ear feeling very giddy.
