"Where the hell is my notebook?"
"Conner! You know I don't like it when you use that kind of language." Jessica said as she closed her locker
"Sorry, it's just so annoying that every time I look for it, it's not where I put it."
"Its right here" she reached into his backpack and pulled out his science notebook.
"What? Where'd that come from?" Conner exclaimed "Witch!"
"Oh shut up" Jessica replied. She started playing with her long dark hair, the purple streak barely visible in the dim light.
"We should probably get to class" Conner noticed. "That would be a good idea" Jessica replied.

"Hey, what are we doing in math?" Conner asked Sam. It was now lunchtime.
"Just a little practice on the fundamental theorem of algebra, it's only review, I got the assignment done during the class period" Sam replied, soon noticing he no longer had Conner's attention. He was looking at Ember, his crush he's had for years. Most people just call her Em, she was one of the most popular girls in school.
"You should go talk to her" Sam suggested.
"I couldn't, I'd just choke up and end up embarrassing myself" Conner replied.
"Move your butts" Conner heard from across the table. He saw Jessica sitting down on the other side of him. She was the only girl that ever sat at that table. So of course everyone made way for her.
"I don't know why you like that Ember girl, she's just a guy stealing little..."
"Okay" Sam interrupted her. "We all know how you feel about Em, but you need to calm down"
"Fine!"

"Did you here about that jewelry store that got robbed the other day?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah, I heard there was no evidence, so the cops have no way of tracking him" Conner said
"You know, I really like walking home with you"
"I know, I'm just so amazing"
"Oh be quiet"
"I like it to, you know. You kind of picked me up and brought me in as a friend"
"Friend" That last word repeated in Jessica's head over and over again.
"Friend, friend, friend" Now she knew she had no chance with him. He thought of her as a friend, nothing more.
"Are you okay?" Conner interrupted her thoughts.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine"
"No your not"
"What?" Jessica was shocked. Did he know? Did he finally figure it out?
"I'm messing with you" Conner intruded her thoughts once again.
"Oh, okay"
