Sophie's Story

Summer coming to an end

The thing that teens most feared was summer coming to an end and school starting again, the moment were your happiness collapses in on its self and your just a normal school teen again. The time when every single piece of fun in you life suddenly disappears overnight, the day you walk through those doors on the first day back to school , you know summer has come to an end.

I couldn't believe a whole 3 months went by so fast, one day I'm walking out the school gates with a beaming smile on my face, the next I'm here packing my bag for school the next morning . I'm sort of excited to see my friends but also not ready to deal with all the stress and mean kids or popular kids as I call them.

While I was rambling on about school , a faint voice called me from downstairs , they called me a few more times finally I snapped back to reality and I recognised the voice, it was Mum. "Yes" I called back, "are you packed and ready for school tomorrow?" she asked, "Nearly" I replied

I finished packing my things and ran downstairs, Mum was cooking dinner while Dad was reading the newspaper. Mum announced dinner was ready. I sighed with relief because I was really hungry, Dad called my brother Malakye and my sister Robin who were both watching TV in the living room. We were all going back to school tomorrow so Mum decided to cheer us up by making our favourite dinner lasagna. We all sat down at the table. Robin, Malakye and I were thrilled to eat mum's homemade dish.

After dinner we all sat in the living room and watched a movie together, just to cheer us all up from the reality of school and work tomorrow. "Ok guys, off to bed you have an early morning tomorrow " announced mum. We all agreed and went upstairs. Robin and I shared a room, we both slept in a double bed together, Malakye had his own room, but it wasn't as big as our one.

I sat lying awake my mind buzzing with thoughts, I turned over facing Robin who was fast asleep, "Robin" I whispered "Robin" I repeated. I started shaking her lightly, Her green eyes opened wide she was alarmed I must have scared her, once she seen me her face slowly became agitated "what is it Sophie?" She whispered with an irritated tone of voice "I can't sleep, and I was just wondering if you were asleep or not" I whispered back "well, I was" replied Robin quite annoyed now "look, sorry for waking you it was silly of me" I replied feeling really bad, I turned over facing the wall. Robin put her arm on my shoulder, I turned back facing her again, "sorry for being snappy, I'm just not excited about going back to school" Robin said with a worried face. I reached for her hand saying "don't worry about it " we both smiled and soon after that we fell asleep.
