A Little Sunshine

Darkness

The darkness comes slowly
Taking away all the light
And with it a will to fight

The darkness fills my heart with despair
Caging my mind with numb
I suddenly feel very dumb

The darkness engulfs me from all sides
I reach out and see nothing
I widen my eyes fretting

The darkness speaks to me
"I have you in my hand.
Dont try to run boy, you'll soon meet your end"

Tired, resigned I look back to the darkness
saying nothing, not moving, looking at it
Letting it surround me, feeling the sharp silence

I lost my purpose, I let the darkness reign
I don't know when I don't know how
But it's clear when I look back now

I was afraid to show the true me
Subjected to public mock
I could never fit in with them
And this filled me with despair

I let the darkness come to me
I let it eat me up alive
But even after all this I know I'm gonna survive

I fought the darkness with all my might
But it's still there lurking in the back
Wanting to stake claim
But now I'm stronger, I'll be ready when it comes
As now I'm no longer the person who I was once
