Locked Inside

Chapter 1

I grab the floor as I am taken into the static lighted hallway. I turn my head slightly to see two dim eyes staring down at me as it dragged me slowly. I struggle once more and opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out, only a dreaded breath. I turn around once more to see something in the background. My eyes widened as I slowly realised what was happening. The animatronic lifted me up into the air, I give a small shiver. I felt myself being pushed into something, Spring locks ache at my back and front side, my eyes started to tear up knowing I am soon to be turned. I give a loud scream as the spring locks snap, everything turned and darkened, I was cold, frozen, soulless.

The phone rang, Maria picks it up quickly and waits for someone to speak.
"Hello?" Someone asks into the phone, she gives a small smile and speaks back happily.
"Hello, Maria here." Maria hears the giggle of children before a calm, quiet voice answers back.
"Maria! So as you may have heard behind me, there are kids, you got the nightshift here at the orphanage!" Maria looks at the phone, the person's voice seems more unhappy and gloomy then enlightened.
"Really? Well, when do I start?" Maria asks thoughtfully, she waits for a reply, but there was a long silence.
"Well, you start tomorrow, but come in today so I can show your job and what you do." She speaks finally, but her voice was blunt almost to the point where she sounded unlively.
"Ok, see you soon." Maria hangs up and rushes upstairs, she grabs some clothes out from her closet. Maria sets some clothes on her bed and changes quickly. Maria's roommate steps into the room and gives a small yawn, she looks sleepily at Maria and sits on the bed slowly.
"Tired Lilith?" Maria asks kindly, Lilith looks up and gives a small stretch and looks around the room like a lost cat.
"The cat made me stay awake all night, Bluey just wants hugs too much." Lilith gave another loud yawn and jumps off the bed with ease.
"Bluey means no harm! He loves to purr and cuddle with people!" Maria speaks quietly and looks down at a tiny grey-blue kitten who just bounded into the room with a toy. "I got a job! I am going to see the place now, I will be back in a bit." Maria gives her friend a hug and rushes out of the apartment and races down to the car, trying not to wake anyone. Maria starts the car and pulls out from the parking space, she drives towards the orphanage, music beaming from the radio inside.
Maria starts singing a lovely tune from a song she loves, it was magical to her, even in her teenage years, although she is twenty and had just gotten out of those years. Maria looks at the scenery in front of her, she sees the orphanage in the distance, but something was odd about it. The orphanage seemed to be abandoned, it is all rusty and covered in vines from the outside, it almost looked haunted with spirits.
Maria stops the car in a parking spot and jumps out, the sun blinding her vision. Maria gave a smile as she sees someone approach her. "Good to see you Maria, welcome to the orphanage, please follow me inside." Maria looks at the red haired girl, her voice is dull, like on the phone call. "Please excuse the kids they are all playful" the girl starts to mumble some words that Maria could not understand nor hear. "Here at the orphanage you can watch kids play, most kids live happily here, while some live like they have seen someone die right before their eyes." Maria's spine starts to tingle, those strange words sounded like she had seen it herself, it reminds Maria of something she read in a newspaper once, but she could not put her finger on it. "Here is the parts and services, where animatronic parts are stored, where they can soon to be of use." The lady speaks some more, her voice became a low whisper. "My favourite is Baba Lucy, she will be a marvellous creation!" Maria looks at the animatronic the lady points to, the suit wore a dress and had a blue bow in it's hair, she looks almost lifelike. "You should be off, tomorrow there will be instructions when you come for the night, you will start at twelve and you end at six." The lady turns around and almost stomps then walks off quickly, Maria watches with curiosity.
Maria walks out of the orphanage, she blinks at the blazing sun that is beaming into her eyes. Maria gets into her car, she takes a deep breath and starts the car, she had never had a job before, this is her first time. Maria looks around as she is driving home, she smiled as she came back into town. Folk walk outside shops, people speak to each other, the world seems to be at peace. Maria smiles as she parks her car and walks into her apartment, she looks around the house, Lilith went to work earlier, Maria gave a small smile as she heard Bluey call her, she runs into her room and hugs Bluey tightly. She looks down at the tiny kitten, he started purring happily. Maria looks at a picture on her bedside table, she breaths slowly and closes her eyes. She reopens her eyes and gives Bluey a small pat, she looks around happily and lays on her bed.
"This is it! I have a job! Let's see if it goes well!"
