Coincidental? I Think Not.

Hey everyone! So this is my first story I've written!  (Not including the cringey stages of my youth, where I wrote a bunch of "stories" which I thought Jacqueline Wilson would publish for me. Yeah, I know.)

I just want to say this isn't perfect yet, so please take that into consideration when reading. I've also changed this beginning at least 3 major times, including names of characters so if you see a random name anywhere which hasn't been mentioned before, now you know.  Enough from me, I tend to skip authors notes as I particularly find them boring, so I won't be a hypocrite, and I'll try to keep them short and sweet if I need to say anything throughout. So, without further ado...

Believe in magic? Or is that too childish for you? Or is it something you shake your head at, at the very thought of? Maybe you do, maybe you don't. Joseph Baker liked to think magic was real, all those planets and stars and galaxies, surely anything was possible. Bernadette Woods liked to believe it wasn't possible, there were so many scientific explanations to go against the very thought!

Choose to believe it or not, it just so happens that on the day Bernadette Woods was born, in the cosy little hospital room filled with two proud and happy parents, a joyful grandma and a slightly nauseous granddad (give the guy a little sympathy, I mean witnessing a child been born couldn't have been the nicest of things to see.) Who would've thought that the blood of another little boy had been smeared onto a little, bright-faced, rosy-cheeked baby Bernadette.

You're all probably thinking "What? This makes no sense. How could the blood from some random boy be smeared onto a new born baby?!" However, a young boy of 2 years old named Joseph Baker had only just been in the very same hospital baby Bernadette had just been born in.

He had fallen down a few stairs which had caused his head to start bleeding, so, to much anger and dismay of his mum, she had driven him straight to the hospital to see if it was serious and if he needed any stitches. Doctor Hardy, the very same Doctor who was about to deliver Bernadette, had tended to Joseph, (only a few stitches to his head thankfully) and he had managed to get a teeny bit of Joseph's blood onto his apron.

The blood was left un-noticed for the doc, and after he had helped deliver Bernadette, had then wiped sticky red substance straight onto Bernadette's cheek, which mixed with the tears she had just shed from her first cry.

Now, if it wasn't for the fact that if everything that had just happened had been left, and Doctor Hardy had not been so careless with the spreading of germs, or he had simply changed his apron, or that Joseph hadn't fallen down the stairs and a million other scenarios had happened, matters would be fine and the two children could live happy care-free lives.

Life unfortunately is not that simple, and to make this mess of a day worse, a few of Bernadette's tears had gotten onto the poor Doctors sleeve, who was then rushed back to Joseph as his stitches had started to bleed again. Call this the fate of the God's, a coincidence, or karma, the doctors sleeve was rubbed against poor little Joe's blood causing them to mix the same it had with Bernadette. Lovely.

The bloody deal had been done. (I guess you could say that this had been made with their sweat and blood huehue. *Cough* Sorry, Continue.)

Who knows what would have happened if Joe's blood had only reached Bernadette, would they not be affected? Would only one be affected? Or vice versa, all that we know is it happened. And it was the only solution I could come up with, i have been mulling this over in my head for a very long time.

This is Detective Hemridge closing today's account.

Thoughts? I know this chapter is very short, only 600 words! But they will get longer as this was the basis and how everything started out, as to not confuse all of you lovelies later on in the story. Also, comment on who you think would suit which characters as the story progresses, and I will do a vote on who to play which role later on. :D
