Atlas and his brother were strays. Their parents died when they were young due to a fire, and Atlas took it as his duty to protect his brother from harm. He believed his parent's death was his fault, so he thought this was his burden to carry. One day, as they were exploring the forest, their soon to be owner found them. He took them into his home, where he and his wife fed, groomed, and took care of them. But everything soon changed. One day, his wife was rushed to a hospital. One day, his wife began losing her hair. One day, his wife never returned.
After that, something snapped within his owner. The owner became more frustrated, and was angered easily. Atlas and his brother became wary. Soon, the owner brought a dog home. The dog was too rambunctious and obnoxious, and Atlas was not fond of him.
After that, Atlas knew his owner wasn't the most stable person. If he did something wrong, he would be punished. Whether it was being locked away from his brother, or anything else that was physical, Atlas made sure to stay out of trouble. But he didn't expect his owner to go this far. And this time, it wasn't even his fault.

Atlas purred, watching his little brother frolic in the grass playfully. "Look Atlas!" He meowed. "I'm a big scary tiger!" Atlas laughed. "You sure are Toby." Atlas sat up to go join him. "Let's go on a walk to stretch our legs. You might even become as fast as a cheetah."
"Oh boy oh boy!" Toby squealed as he started running into the woods. Finally, they reached their destination. They padded around in the forest. "Maybe you can catch something today," Atlas said. "Just remember not to show it off to the owner. He gets really mad, and might even lock us away again."
"I know," Toby said sadly. "I hope the owner feels better some day." Atlas nodded as they walked along one of the trails. "Quiet!" He suddenly hissed. There was something rustling in the bushes. Dropping into a crouch, Atlas slowly crept towards the bush. As he was getting ready to pounce, an orange she-cat sprung out. "Hey Atlas! Hi Toby!" She greeted them.
Atlas sighed a breath of relief. "Hey Sunny," he said. Sunny grinned. "Did I scare you? Toby you look like you've seen a ghost!" (WINK WONK). Toby took a step forward. "N-no! I-I just thought you were one of the crazy rogues attacking us!"
Atlas purred in amusement. "If there ever is one, I promise I'll protect you Toby." He said, nudging his brother.
But they never expected that to actually happen.
