Monday 26, 2017 Daytona Beach
Eleanor Campbell was laying on the beach working on her tan for the upcoming weekend. Her and her boyfriend, Jack were spending the week on the beach and going to the NASCAR races that weekend.
"I'm getting really hot. I'm gonna go cool off in the water," Eleanor said to Jack.
"Yeah, you are pretty hot; smokin' actually," Jack replied while winking. Jack had a southern accent. He was from southwest Tennessee and grew up on a farm. He also liked to drink too much.
Eleanor began walking towards the shore until she realized she forgot her sunglasses. She turned around, picked up her sunglasses from her beach towel, and turned around. She was walking toward the ocean when Jack hollered at her.
"Woah, look at my sexy girlfriend," Jack yelled loud enough for the entire beach to hear.
Eleanor turned around and rolled her eyes. She wasn't paying attention to where she was walking and tripped and fell into someone. She fell to the ground. The waves were coming up to her body. Eleanor couldn't see well; she hadn't gotten her sunglasses on yet. All she heard was a sweet southern accent that wasn't Jack's.
"Hey, oh my god, are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah," she said as she tried to open her eyes to the bright sun to see who was talking to her. She began to stand up. She fell right back down.
"Hold on, darlin'. I'll carry you to a chair."
Eleanor put her arms around the stranger's neck. The stranger gently sat her in a beach chair under an umbrella. The sun wasn't a concern, so she opened her eyes. A fit gentleman stood there. She guessed he was about twenty-three years old and probably stood around five feet nine inches.
"Thanks for helping me."
"Not a problem. Are you in any pain?"
"Um, My ankle and head hurt."
"I wonder if you have a concussion. I probably should take you to the hospital. Come on, I'll carry you to my truck."
"Woah there cowboy, I don't even know your name!"
"Oh my bad. Chase Elliott. Nice to meet you."
Eleanor immediately thought of Jack.
"You ready to go?" Chase asked.
"Well, I'm here with my boyfriend, which is really funny because he's a huge fan of yours and was hoping to meet you at the track this weekend."
"Oh, so, should he take you then?"
Eleanor looked over at where her boyfriend was. Jack was passed out on a beach towel from all the alcohol.
"Take me where?"
"The hospital."
"Oh, no. You should take me."
Chase picked up Eleanor and carried her to his lifted truck. He sat her in the passenger seat and buckled her in. Chase went to the driver's side, hopped in, and started the drive to the ER.
"So, what's your name? You never told me."
"Eleanor Campbell."
"That's beautiful," Chase replied. "So why did we just leave your boyfriend behind?"
"Jack's kind of passed out from drinking too much."
"So, do you like NASCAR or is it just something Jack likes?"
Chase didn't hear a reply. He looked over and Eleanor was out. He tried to wake her, and as he tried to, he stepped on the gas and began speeding even more than he already was. After about five minutes they arrived at the hospital. Chase pulled right up to the doors and a nurse was there to help Eleanor and take her inside. Chase parked the truck and walked inside. Eleanor was getting taken back.
"Wait!" Chase yelled.
"I'm sorry, sir. Only family is allowed," the nurse said.
Chase sat down in the waiting room. His phone began to ring.
"Hello?" Chase answered.
"Dude, where are you?"
"The hospital. I ran into this girl and she fell. Her ankle and head hurt and she passed out on the way here."
"Oh, well that makes sense! Her boyfriend is looking for her."
"Jack?"
"Yeah! Did she tell you his name or did you just guess that?"
"Slade, she told me."
"Oh, that makes even more sense."
Chase sat and he waited. After about an hour he was told he could come back. The nurse gave Chase a little rundown first.
"Eleanor has a concussion. If you are the one taking care of her you need to make sure she is resting. No exercise, no major activity, no phones, limited TV."
"Thank you so much!"
Chase went into her room and sat down next to her.
"I can't thank you enough for taking care of me and bringing me here." Eleanor grabbed his hand.
"Not a problem."
Eleanor and Chase just sat there smiling at each other.
Moments later, Jack came in to the sight of them holding hands. He was shocked. Jack kept thinking. How did Chase Elliott and his girlfriend meet? Were they sleeping together and Eleanor kept pretending to not know anything about NASCAR? That thought just made him angry.
Eleanor saw the anger dwelling inside of Jack.
"Jack, it's okay. I fell and Chase brought me here."
"Yeah, it that before or after you had sex?" Jack asked angrily.
"We haven't had sex," Chase said. "I just met Eleanor."
Jack didn't believe him. Jack walked to Chase and punched him a few times. Eleanor screamed. Luckily, the police were in the waiting room and ran into the ran just in time for them to see Jack hit Eleanor a few times and still see Chase lying on the floor. The police quickly handcuffed Jack.
Eleanor had more brain damage so the hospital decided to keep her for a few days. Chase just had a swollen and bruised face.
