chapter one

____________

Harry Potter watched his children board the Hogwarts Express, a feeling of melancholy coming over him. He often missed the days where he, Hermione and Ron would climb into that train, smiling and laughing, ready for a new school year, and adventure, at Hogwarts.

Now, the trio were all far too busy for fun and adventure. Harry was the Head of Gryffindor House, and the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts, Hermione, the Minister of Magic, and Ron, head of the Auror's Office.

"Goodbye, Dad!" Lily Potter shouted from the window of the scarlet train. Her crazy red hair flowed all around her, as she waved frantically. "I'll write you every day!" Lily promised, although Harry was sure that she wouldn't. His two sons had both promised the same, and neither had followed through.

In Lily's compartment sat her cousin Lucy, who was a second year, but was nice enough to keep her company, and two blonde boys who'd introduced themselves as Lorcan and Lysander Scamander.

"So... Do you like Quidditch?" Lily asked, and she noticed that one of the blonde boys grinned. "I love Quidditch," she gushed. "My favourite team is the Holyhead Harpies, my Mum plays chaser for them."

"I like the Falmouth Falcons," one of the twins smiled. "They haven't won since the day I was born, though."

"Lorcan, they're never winning again. The Wimborine Wasps beat them every time they make it to the qualifying match for the quarter-finals of their region," butted in Lysander.

"So what?" interjected a voice from the door, Lily's oldest brother, James, had appeared.

"What do you mean, so what?" asked Lysander.

"So, atleast he supports them. He's not one of those damn Bandbroom fans, just following a team because they have a good player, or they won the World Finals," James said.

"But why does someone like a team, if it's not because they're good?" argued Lysander.

"Because they have a good spirit, interesting plays, matches that last weeks on end," said James.

"James here is the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain," Lily explained.

"And I hope that you four will all be trying out next year, when you're in Gryffindor," James smiled at the four. "I'll see you at the table, hopefully. Bye Lily, Lily's friends."

"Bye Lucy," said Lucy, trying to get James to notice her presence.

"Oh sorry Luce. See you at the table."

With that, the 16 year old left the compartment, his unruly, charcoal hair flowing behind him. It was terrifying how much James Sirius Potter resembled his namesake, Sirius Black. The pair weren't even related, but when the older professors saw James, they would have to double-take, or they'd gasp as though they'd seen a ghost. Sirius Black's heartbreaker legacy lived on with this boy as well, never dating a girl for more than two weeks, snogging everyone in Hogwarts. He had incredible smarts in Transfiguration and Astronomy, much like James Potter and Sirius Black had before him, but he'd never quite used his skills to their full potential.
