Part 1

Tik...tik...tik...tik...
I stared at the clock hanging over the door, waiting for the hour hand to strike 5, but I still had a good hour & a half left of work. Talk about a bad day...first I wake up expecting my boyfriend to be sleeping next to me, but to my surprise i find a note on the pillow beside me, written on it, a single sentence: "We need to talk.-Jacob"
If that wasn't stressful enough my dog got out of my apartment this morning & my landlord (who hates dogs) happened to grab him, that argument was just lovely.
Then on top of it all, I was late to work today..it's my last strike. My boss has been giving me dirty looks all afternoon. Can this day get any worse?
A loud thud of the door broke me from my thoughts...great, now I have to deal with an angry customer.
"Hi welcome to Starbucks, what can I get for you?" I faked a smile. The man is just staring at the counter, won't even bother to make eye contact with me. "I'll take a grande hazelnut latte." He almost mumbled. At this point i felt a bit sorry for him. "Would you like anything else...sir" I placed his latte on the counter. "You don't have to call me th-" He looked up. His eyes widened & so did mine. Is that...no it can't be.."Amber?????" Oh no. "Bruno?...." I almost whispered.

He stared at me for a moment, studying my face. I couldn't help but blush. The way he looked at me made me feel so vulnerable. I feel like I'm going to be sick. What's the matter with me? He smiled slightly. "I've misse-" He stopped halfway through his sentence & his smile faded. He almost looked angry. He was. He slammed a hundred dollar bill on the table & mumbled "Keep the change....Amber."
and just like that...he was gone.
