-- Chapter 6 -- How Many Days Does It Take To Start A Band?

After a few minutes of this, he was breathing steadily. He was shaken up and had lost his energy, but he knew Xena was in danger. He kept himself going with all the adrenaline. He went through the park all the way to the nature walk where the playground and recreational area split. He went up the path for the hike and then decided to sprint to get through it faster. He sprinted for ten whole minutes until he heard a pair of voices.

"Please!" Someone wailed

"Shut your damn mouth!"

"No!"

"I swear if you do that,"

"I won't stop,"

"Ow! Alexandra I swear-"

"I hate you,"

Josh's legs carried him faster and faster around the bend. He knew whatever it was, it wasn't good. He ran until he saw Xena against a tree, someone hitting her.

"Hey!" Josh felt weak (MORE EMINEM REFERENECS ANYBODY?), but he kept his firm tone.

"Josh?" Xena slurred, as she looked over to him.

"Hey you!" Josh screeched at the man holding her.

He ignored Josh and continued to talk to Xena "Alexandra! I am going to count to five,"

"No James. You don't own me and can't have me. Let go! I said let go!" She was wriggling about but James had a tight grip on her. So she bit him.
"Ouch! Bitch," He pushed her against the tree, Xena falling against the splintering bark painfully. He snatched her back for another round.

Josh darted up the path, ripping James off Xena. She fell against the tree again. He came face to face with the dark haired and tall young man.

He looked Josh up and down "Who are you? Her saviour?" He scoffed at him

"No, I'm her friend. I don't know or care who you are, but you have to leave right now,"

"Oh blah blah blah," The boy took no time in punching Josh in the jaw. He tripped back, clutching his face as the man named James came closer.

Josh wound up his arm and cracked James in the nose. Blood trickled down his face but he just smiled. Josh clutched his knuckles, he'd never had to do that before.

James stood there and beamed as blood coated his teeth. Josh wound up his arm again, repeatedly punching him. James fought back by kicking his leg into Josh's abdomen, winding him. He huffed for breath when he saw James come up to him for more. He kicked him again and again, until Josh fell to the ground, panting, trying his best to regain some oxygen. Josh saw Xena grabbing a stick. She came up behind James ready to hit him. James heard gravel crunch under Xena's shoes from behind him and he tripped her. She fell back, hitting her head.

Josh got up and rushed James, causing him to fall over backwards. Josh jumped on top of him and beat him using adrenaline as his source of strength.

James spat blood at him "You think you're strong," James grabbed a rock from beside him

"No, I'm just here to stop you from hurting Xena,"

James raised the rock to Josh's head "Well 'Josh', she's mine and you can't save her!"

James attempted to bring the rock down on Josh's head but he drove his knuckles into James' bicep causing the rock to fly sideways. Josh jumped on top of James, punching him in the face, James putting his hands up for basic protection.

Xena regained consciousness and ran to help Josh, but stumbled. The drugs were still in control of her system.

"Xena," Josh screamed. He got up but James yanked Josh's ankle back, sending him skidding on his butt right next to James.
