Chapter 16 I'm not the one standing in front of someone else's home

Start from the beginning

Humming along to Simplest Things by Natalie Holmes, I walk to Jayden’s house.

After knocking on the door it swings open and I see a tall guy wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt saying- “like what you see?- with broad shoulders and light brownish hair, he looked exactly like Jayden but what surprised me most were his eyes, one was a beautiful electric blue colour and the other one was a bluish colour with specks of green and brown.

“T-shirt reference.”  A voice says, pulling me back to reality.

“Uh… what?” I say dumbly.

“You know my t-shirt and the re-, oh never mind,” he says.

“Oh, I get what you mean, oh ahaha I’m so stupid.” I laugh shortly after I understand what he was saying.”

“Aren’t you a slow person.” He says heartily.

“Right,” I reply still smiling, “so who are you?” I ask.

“Hey, shouldn’t I be the one asking you.” He smiles, “I’m not the one standing in front of someone else’s home.”

“Wait, this is your house?” I ask curiously.

“Well, it has been for the last eighteen years, so I think it is considered that.” He says thoughtfully.

“Oh, I think I’m at the wrong house then,” I say quickly

“Wait, I never got your name though.” He grabs lightly at my arm as I turn around.

“Oh, right it’s Kelly Waters.” I say “What’s yours?”

“I’m Zach, Zach Hill.”

“Wait Zach… Hill? As in are you related to Jayden Hill.” I question.

“Um, yea we’re like twin brothers haha.”

“Really! So I am at the right house then.” I say walking back to the door step.

“So, you’re looking for Jayden?” he says a smirking tugging at his lips, “You his girlfriend? I was starting to wonder if he was turning gay you know.”

“What, no, no, no you’ve got it all wrong I’m just his Social Studies partner.” I say feeling a blush starting to dust my cheeks.

“Really now, cause I read that usually opposite gender’s that are partnered together usually end up going out with each other.” He says smugly.

I think I might have turned into one of those ripe tomatoes mum used to make spaghetti sauce with last night, because I then splutter some incoherent words.

“Since when did you read chick flicks?” I finally stutter out.
