Chapter 1
“Hey blondie!” Niall whispers in my ear since we are in the school library. Niall called me ‘blondie’ ever since we met. -I think it was a Saturday when we met at the park. That was 2009 I think? He came up to me and said “Hi blondie. I need some help. Can you do me a favour?” I remembered how I was shocked since it’s the first time a boy actually came up to me to ask something. “Uhhh, did you just call me blondie?” the words just came out of my mouth. I didn’t even know that I said that until he told me, “Oh, uhhh, I’m sorry. Well, considering you’re blonde and yeah, so I just intended to call you that. Sorry.” “Oh no. uhhm, I was just, just shocked to hear you say that. So, what was that favour?” I asked him. “See that girl over there?” he points a brunette reading a book. I think the book I spotted was Catching Fire by Suzzane Collins. “I want to go out with her. She goes to my school and-“ “Wait! Where do you go to school?” I rudely butt in. “Mullingar Campus. Why?” “MC?! I go there too! How come I have never seen you before?!” I ask him a bit excitedly though. “Maybe it’s because I’m never with the jocks. And I’m not popular.” He says. I can’t tell if he’s sad or he’s just really like that. “Well so am I. Maybe we just don’t notice each other. Oh! About the girl?” I remember about the brunette. “Oh yeah. She goes to MC-” I think I’ve seen her before so I butt in again, “Is she the head cheerleader? Danielle?” “Yeah. Good to know you’re catching on. Anyways, I have been crushing on her since the day we bumped each other. We looked deep into each other’s eyes and we-“ I butt in again (A/N: she likes butting in), “I don’t want to hear your story. I want to hear the favour!” “Okay, okay. I want you to ask her if she already has a date to the prom. Be like, like my wingman or something.” Niall says. “Wait! First of all, don’t call me MAN in anyway. It’s better if you call me blondie. And I didn’t get your name…” “Oh sorry for all those things. I’m Niall. You are?” “My name is Chriselle.” And we shake hands. “So you want me to go and ask a girl that I have never talked to, if she has a date to the prom? Niall, are you serious?” I ask him in a very sarcastic way. But I didn’t think he got that I was sarcastic. “You’re right. I bet I don’t even have a chance to get a drink with her.” Niall said, sadly yet you could see in his face that he was happy. “Yeah…” I felt a little sad for Niall. I didn’t know what else to do cause he never left my side. Until he asked me “What about you?” “What about me?” I ask. “Do you have a date to the prom?” This is one serious yet weird question. The prom is tomorrow! I forgot! I didn’t know what to tell Niall. “Nope.” It was the only thing that popped out from my mouth. “Good then. I’ll pick you up at 7. See you tomorrow!” what did he just do? What did I just do? Am I going out with Niall to the prom tomorrow? Yes. Yes I am. And ever since that night of the prom, we officially became friends. I never thought of Niall and I as more than friends. We’re friends. Best friends.- “Hey Niall.” I whisper. “Whatcha doin there?” he asks. “Studying for our Physics test tomorrow. What are you doing in a library?” I say. “Wait! There’s a test on Physics tomorrow?” Niall asks. I knew he didn’t listen a while ago. Anyways, “Yes! Seems like somebody wasn’t listening…” “Harry and Lou kept texting me about rehersals for today. We got a big tour coming a head of us. You know, One Direction, our band.” -Oh One Direction. I remember the day Niall told me he was going to audition for the X Factor when there was an audition here in Mullingar. He ended up with the band, One Direction. His 4 other band mates, Harry, Louis, Liam and Zayn, have also auditioned for the X Factor UK. It seems that they were too good for the judges to let go of, so they just formed them to a band. I’m really happy for Niall that he got his way to fame and has been on many tours and such, but I miss the old Niall. The Niall that would go to my house without any screaming girls in his face, the Niall that would go to the park with me and not have many people staring at us or going near Niall for autographs and pictures, The Old Niall. I’m still happy for him anyways.- “Really? Where at?” I ask. “Just at the one and only, Madison Square Garden! Exciting, right?!” Niall says. I can’t say that I’m excited for him even though I am. Because that means that I won’t be seeing Niall for the week again. And I hate it when we don’t see each other. “It’s okay, blondie. I’ll get back here before you know it.” It’s like he read my mind. “I gotta go now. I’ll just call you later okay? Rehersals are very important. Bye Blondie!” Then he kisses me on the forehead as he goes. Niall kissing me on the forehead is normal for me already. He’s like, my older brother. Then just like that, Niall’s gone.
