Cerastium

Snowfall stirs up the summer night,

My unanswered prayers dim my urge to fight,

So I pocket the remnants of my demanding dreamworld,

And crouch by the colour-drained street,

(Time's not on hold)

Nightfall pulls on the string of fear,

Moonlight falls silver, lures out, unveils.

As silence crashes down, deafening me,

The world is secretly shifting gears.

When I try to wrap my head around this twist of fate,

"Perhaps it was a delusion skating over reality,"

I seize the notion, scrambling to resuscitate,

The footing I lost stumbling away from my anxiety.

In a heartbeat, the darkness collapses under one crushing first step.

Swapping words and obscenities zap by us,

There's so much wrong that we need to discuss,

Restoring a name that was never there to begin with,

And the devilish voice is still clawing at the soul within.

Petals plucked out, no hope left to shatter,

And I've already pulled all the push doors.

Succumbing, crumbling, nothing down there matters,

Rebels dwelling shady alleyways, nothing but an eyesore.

Even curling into myself wasn't an option,

Fantasies of my future tantamount to smokescreens,

Odds were on about my dream coming false,

To atone for my walk of loss and humiliation.

Start the real game, no one will recognize yesterday in me.

Ice shrinks away from the distant summer lights.

My unanswered prayers, a sign I didn't start out right.

So I kindle the remnants of my minuscule dreamworld,

And await the looming tempest's take on me,

(Bittersweet, two-fold)

In a heartbeat, the darkness collapses under one crushing first step.

At a glance, no one recognizes yesterday in me.

Side note: Cerastium is a flower (the one in the picture) also known as Snow in Summer due to its appearance. The reason behind the name of the poem is that the sudden predicament in the poem is almost like snow falling in summer. But even such a problem can hold it's own beauty.
