I know that they have been lying to us for some time now. It was clear to see, but everybody was too shocked to notice, the way all six of them looked away in mock sadness, just to hide what was really shame for what they had done. How they had left too quickly for us to question them for details about what exactly had happened to our leaders sister, Lauren. When you think about it, their story just doesn't make any sense. How she was chased into the woods and that when they went after her all they caught was a fleeting glimpse of her golden hair, and her hot pink nails, along with the screaming echo of her final breath as she fell.
If anyone knew Lauren as well as I do, or did, they would know that she is petrified by heights, she couldn't even walk up stairs and look the way she came for fear of fainting. She would have avoided the cliff edge as long as she could, even if it had meant capture by who, or whatever chased her in there in the first place.
None of what they say makes sense, not one word. The rout they were supposed to take wouldn't have even passed close to the cliffs, even in the event of a detour there were plans set in place to keep them away from the cliffs because of her fear. They were to head through the plains as a last resort. They are hiding something, something big enough that they decided to kill our leaders' sister, my fiancée, to keep it hidden in the darkness. They tore our colony apart and got most of us killed. They caused so much grief, and pain that three of our people died trying to bring the ones they say killed her to justice. They are the ones who started the war that almost killed all of the remaining survivors, they were the ones who convinced the leader of me being guilty for a crime i didn't commit. I'm going to make them pay for what they did to her, our leader, all of us.
I'm going to bring what they've hidden, underneath all the layers of shadow and deceit, to light. I'm going to find out what they are trying to hide and ruin their lives, just like they ruined mine.
