Chapter One

Chapter 1 – Losing Her

Sean’s POV

I was running through the woods, trying to ease my heart from the anger that burned inside of me.

My brother Luke came home after three years of been in London ending his medicine studies. I never understood why he had to go so far from home, when in America were a lots of great medicine schools. But after so many years of been away from home, my parents decided to throw a welcome party for him, and everybody was invited to it. Every member of our pack and every friend they had outside it.

We were not the strongest pack in America, but we were one of the most pure. With only one hundred members, we survived the technology advances that made our race gone almost extinct. With the human population growth up to the north and not many woman with the wolf gene, our people had been matched with human, making the great wolf gene disappeared little by little.

That was one of the reasons Luke decided to study medicine. He thought that science could help us, but I didn't understand how. At the end, there was a believe that the Moon Goddess was the one who chooses your soul mate, and a lot of us had been mated with ordinary humans.

I never got interested in being mated. I didn't believe in it, being with one person for all eternity just because your genes says she is the right one. I believed in falling in love with that girl that made your day sweeter and lighter. The one girl that made your heart beat faster each time you see her smile spread on her face. The one girl that had the power to make you change your path, just to be beside her every second of every day.

For me, that girl was Jane. She was my world. With her, everything was better. She was my best friend. The one I could confined every aspect of my life. I was in love wih her smile, her hair, her eyes, her brain, and her glorious kissable lips that greeted me each morning when we went to the river.

She was my all. Until the Moon Goddess decided she wasn't going to be mine.

"Sean. Get down already!"

I could hear my mom calling me with all her lungs. She was at the kitchen preparing all the food for Luke's welcoming party. I was trying to decipher what to wear for the occasion. I didn't want to make a bad impression on the people that were to come. After all, I'm the youngest son of the Beta, but the only one that had made no intention to leave the town. Everybody though I would be the next Beta in command and everyone expectations were on me.

I decided to get down in a simple white polo shirt and dark blue jeans with my new country boots that mom gave me as a birthday present. My birthday wasn't in a couple of days, but she always gave me her present the same day she brought it, she couldn't wait to warp it and hide it until the date.

"Oh! Hello Handsome!" She said with a big smile when I entered the kitchen.

"Hey mom." I said shyly. I knew it was just my mom, but still, she can made me blush from embarrassment.

"I need you to pick up your cousin at the bus station."

"But I want to go the airport with dad."

"I know. But your father can't make it home to pick you up first, so he's going directly from his job."

"Alright. When does he arrives then?"

"Half an hour, I think." She said throwing her car keys at me. "Put some gas first."

"Ah, mom!"

"Hey! Do it for the lady."

"You own me." I said playfully as I turned the door knob.
