Great, another day to make progress.

The busy streets of New York are constantly on the move, I felt like an ant navigating an ant hill. I walked quite a bit from my home, and as I enter the laboratory, I was greeted by the friendly aroma of the lab inhabitants and of the many chemicals & tools in use. Plain white tiles and concrete like winter snow covered the lab from the floor to the wall. It had that typical mad scientist vibe yet was also rather a calm place for being so busy.

Everyone's hard at work. Our latest project was almost complete, according to The Enforcers call this morning. I couldn't wait to witness it's unveiling.

As I start heading towards The Enforcer, I couldn't help but think once again just how hard it is to be comfortable around him despite the amount of time I've been here.

The Enforcer was a lean fellow, with spiked up grey hair and one eye covered with a red lensed monocle. I've never really seen him in anything that wasn't his typical lab getup; coat, shoes and all.

An interesting feature to him was the small cable that's attached to the back of his head that ran down to the center of his back. On occasions the cable will let out a small jolt of electricity, and it's been noted that when that happens, The Enforcers personality changes.

It took a bit, but I finally get to the other side of the lab and exchange greetings.

After a while in silence I say "You know, this could change the very nature of life as we know it. No one has to suffer from disease any longer.."

The Enforcer nodded, and a jolt ran through, but he didn't flinch.

"Yes, indeed it will. Let me show you the adjustments we've done while you were gone."

He opened up a large metal box, and inside was our project, a robotic wasp. It had a large stinger that even compared to its body size, a big lensed eye and a smaller normal eye. It was the size of the banana that laid next to it.
It wasn't moving, and it probably wasn't alive either.

"So what exactly did you come up with Enforcer?" I question

"I made some changes regarding the stinger, but once it's alive and functioning, these wasps will replicate the cure that's been affecting us all and pass it through the stinger. The ability to be the only organism to generate the cure and it's quick speed will solve our problem."

"Interesting, hm, I'm wondering, what should we name these wasps?"

Just then, another jolt of electricity passed through The Enforcer, and it was followed by a menacing grin. He stayed with that grin for a few moments, and then reverted back to a calm expression.

"Spider Wasps." He simply said.

Suddenly, a strange rumble shook the room, which caused a stir among the rest of the inhabitants, but was quickly gone.

That was weird, I thought. I reached for the wire The Enforcer was holding.

"Here Enforcer, let me take care of the rest."

He hands me the wire and points to the tools laid across the corner of the table, and right then I set to work.

- A Few Hours Later-

I placed the last bolt and flipped the switch. For a while, the lab fell silent. Instinctually everyone faced their gazes on me and the wasp. They must have all known the years of work put in have finally led to this moment.

The Spider Wasp still didn't move, but I thought I saw a few sparks fly from the body. It might just be adjusting to the software we installed on it.

I knew our project was a success from the moment the wasps body started flashing a bright blue, everyone cheered and celebrated our biggest accomplishment. I was in tears.

A quick glance to my left, and I thought I witnessed a frown on The Enforcers face, but it seemingly was replaced by a grin a moment after.

Hours later, our entire lab and a large crowd of the New York population was gathered round to bring the unveiling of the wasps.

The Enforcer taps on the mic and excitedly says
"Ladies and Gentleman, we have you gathered around today to present something magnificent. I present to you all... The Spider Wasp!"

Everyone stood in awe.

He continued "This will cure the world! No more disease! No more deaths! Today, we start humanity over again, a better world, a world with the capabilities to go far.."

He turns off the mic to the crowd cheering, and looks at me
"Blake, release our first Spider Wasp to our world."

I took the Spider Wasp in my hands, and it was surprisingly more warm than I anticipated. As I walk towards the front of the stage, I saw the large eye of the wasp in its natural green, which flashed to a blood red. It stayed that way for a few moments, before reverting back to its original green, shining brighter now.

The Enforcer turns on the mic again "Alright, countdown in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1... Let it fly!!"
