My heart beats fast as I open my eyes, my head aches all of a sudden and I hurriedly stood up. My body's too tired to sit as I go back in bed and thinking what just happen last night. I'm facing the ceiling and realize, this is my old room, so I really went out in our house, in my house.
I hear a phone ring, it's mine, as I search it in the bed, it was place under the pillow for privacy, my sister maybe check this when I'm sleeping or maybe not. I pick up the phone and saw George's name in the screen. His my friend, we were so close with each other, we play basketball a lot together, we were classmates way back in high school up to college, but we were both busy ever since we manage to face the reality.
"Hey George" I speak first.
"Where are you right now Luke?" He immediately response like something bad is coming. By the way I'm Luke Frias, 30 years old and I have businesses here in Los Angeles even though I didn't born here. We used to live in Chicago when I was a kid but dad decided to come here to improve his businesses, now I have my own family now, but as I say I run out in our house because my wife get angry for not remembering a birthday present to my son Prince, but I don't really forgotten it, some delaying issue. Anyways that's why I ended up here in my parents' house.
"Enough with the introduction Luke! This is serious case!" He shouts in the phone as my ear hurts.
"Haha sorry, by the way what happen last night?" I ask.
"What? You don't remember?" his shock by hearing what I have said.
"Well yeah, but I do remember that we were drinking in your bar" I say.
"Damn man, we drink too much last night and meet Jennifer there" He says.
"Who? Jennifer Lawrence" as I kid him and laugh.
"Enough with that, I mean your ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Garcia was with us last night" he says as my eyes get widen and start to become serious.
"Seriously George, This isn't a joke right? "As I wonder how that could happen she doesn't need to go there knowing the fact that maybe I was there at my friend's bar.
"Hey Luke? Are you still there?" he ask.
I clear my throat "yes, I'm still here, so what happen? I mean how could that happen?"
"She join our table on purpose, and she invites us to go in the grand opening in her first restaurant" as he explains.
"So did she stay long? Or did something happen? Did she drink with us?" Shit! Why I always forgot everything whenever I got drunk, except the thing George kiss a gay last night, good thing I didn't.
"No, she leave after she invites us, she has great smile and her beauty still the same" he says.
"Oh really? Well she did great" I reply and that's makes me smile. She fulfill her dream after all. "Thank God, so when will it be?" I add.
"When what?" he asks.
"The grand opening of her restaurant"
"Oh yeah, it was today 1 in the afternoon, lunch time" he says it in a calm way.
"What!!?" I check the time and it was already 11 in the morning. "Shit! I'm going to take a bath George, let's just meet there later" I say and then I click the end button to end the conversation.
I take the towel and rush in to the bathroom, I look myself in the mirror, I'm looking to a grown up man, matured enough to handle things. I need to do this, even my wife gets angry, and I think this is what they call closure of a relationship.
I open the shower and forgot a soap and shampoo, if I remember there still those things in the cabinet. The cabinet at the top of the mirror, I open it and saw an envelope, it was her picture, Jennifer Garcia's. Her blonde hair catch up to my eye and she's wearing her blue dress.
She lives here in Los Angeles just like I do, we were classmates back then in college together with George, the 3 of us enjoyed college the most, it was great, really great. This photo was taken before our last semester in college. I check the back of the picture and I remember I always read this note every time since she gave it to me.
You should smile like this every time you see this picture Luke, then if you do, please return to the owner, because this was one of the cutest picture I have. –Jennifer Garcia
XOXO
I laugh every time I read it. I flip it to the picture again and I copy her smile. She loves taking picture more than anyone else. Don't worry Jennifer I will bring this back to you. While staring in the picture, I analyze something.
"Damn, why I didn't realize it sooner!" I laugh hard as I notice it, this is the first time she didn't look at the camera, instead she's looking to the one who took it, she's looking at me.
