Chapter 12:
"I had another dream." Elsa announced. North looked at her. "This could be serious if you say this is happening quite frequently. He must need you, and is taking to desperate measures." Jack glided over to Elsa, his arms wrapping around her, holding her tightly to him. "No way is he getting anywhere near Elsa." Jack said, his voice full of determination. "I'll call in Sandy and tell him it's urgent. Whatever he's doing can wait." North said, getting up and walking out of the room.
Pictures rapidly appeared over Sandy's head. Even though Elsa couldn't understand what he was trying to say, she could see his face explain his distress. Jack's face also revealed a worried expression. After Sandy's explanation, the group turned toward Elsa. "Well...?" She started, hoping to get a translation of Sandy's explanation. Tooth fluttered about nervously. "Well... The thing is, if he can't reach you from where he is, he's entering through your dreams correct? The problem there is, if he were to challenge you to a battle, and say you lost..." Tooth looked uneasy. "You would fall into a coma, and most likely never wake up ever again." Finished Bunny bleakly. Jack didn't say anything. Sandy started to form pictures again. After he was done, North started to explain. "Elsa," he said very seriously. "You know how you said you jumped through a portal?" She nodded. "Doing that is quite dangerous. In the one that you mentioned, you had an obvious advantage over Pitch. However, say you ended up being fire and he was water. That could be very tricky." "What can I do then? I'm not supposed to stay awake, am I?" Elsa asked. "Honestly," North said, "I don't know what to do." Sandy made a few motions. "How do you even DO that?" Bunny asked, confused. Jack looked curiously at Sandy. "Actually, no, there is no real way of blocking Pitch out... But someone can join your dream." North said. "Wait, what?" Elsa asked, now completely confused. "If Sandy gives me a dream where I'm awake, I can created a portal and "jump" into your dream." Jack said, speaking up for the first time since the beginning of the conversation. Elsa looked slightly scandalized at the thought people would be entering her mind and would be able to see what she was thinking of. After thinking about it again, she knew that was the least of her concerns. "Ok," she said, her voice shaky. "So you're going to enter my dreams?" "It's probably best if we didn't all go." Bunny interrupted. "It's already dangerous enough messing with dreams in general." Sandy nodded silently in agreement. "It's settled then! We start tonight." North said. "Jack, you're going." "But but..." Everyone ignored his protests and went off to do their own work. Elsa ran over and hugged Jack, burying her face in his sweater. "Jack, I'm scared. I don't want to die. I'm not ready yet." Elsa's tears created little spots of frost on his sweater. Jack pulled her closer, resting his chin on her head. "Don't worry," he murmured. "I'll protect you." He silently vowed would protect Elsa and finish Pitch once and for all.
