Falling

Lexas POV

"Mom are we almost there yet?" I ask annoyed.

"Calm down Lexa we are 30 minutes away. Are you excited or nervous?" My mother responds.

"Both." I say more bitterly then I meant.

It's true. I'm both excited and nervous. This is my first year of college at BU (Boston University). I'm excited to start a new chapter of my life, to have new friends and to make new memories.
But mostly, I'm nervous for my roommate. We texted a few times before today but this will be my first time meeting her. I have no idea what to expect.

As we pull up to the school all the worry leaves my body and is replaced by pure excitement. This is it. I'm finally here.

" I'm gonna go check you in." My mom says jumping out of the car. She's putting on a good face but I know she's sad to have to leave me here in just a few hours.

I get out of the car looking up at my dorm building. It's huge. I've never seen a building this tall or beautiful. It's circular structure is incredible. I look back down to see my mom headed towards me with a big rolling bin.

After three trips with a full bin, I realize this is the last one and my mom will have to leave.

"Well this is it hunni." My mother says with a sad smile. "You are going to do amazing here. I love you so much."

I hug my mother as tight as I can as she kisses my forehead and then walks towards the door. I let out a big sigh when the door shuts behind her.

I look at all my belongings spread around me and start to unpack.

As I'm laying my comforter out on my bed I here a key slide into the door.
