"Good Lord those kids drive me crazy." Reba said to herself as she flopped on the couch. This was the first weekend she had the whole house to herself ever. She honestly didn't know what to do because it was just to good to be true. 'Should I take a nap, drink some wine, watch a whole movie all the way through without any interruptions?' She thought to herself. "Maybe a good romcom with a glass of Chardonnay." She said. So, she poured a glass of wine and put on "You've Got Mail." She stretched her legs on the coffee table and sighed. "This is nice." She whispered.

Then no more than 10 seconds later, her ex husband walks through the front door. "Hey Reba!" He said. She looked at him and rolled her eyes. "Spoke too soon." Reba said quietly. "What?" Brock asked. Reba ignored his inquiry and rolled her eyes. "Brock, what are you doing here?" Brock sat on the chair as Reba paused the movie she barely got to start. "The condo so quiet and with the kids being gone, I have nothing to do." No one was home at all this weekend. Cheyenne, Van, and Elizabeth were in Colorado, Kyra was out of town with her band, Jake was at soccer camp, and BJ & Henry were in Fisheye Bottom visiting BJ's family. Not that it mattered to Brock because him and BJ had been divorced for six months.

"Well, this is the first weekend I've been alone and I would enjoy it way better if you were at your house, not here." Brock looked at her for a second and said, "well then, if that's how you feel." And just like that, he got up and left. Reba was shocked, this wasn't like him at all. "Wait, Brock. You can watch this movie if you want." He smiled slightly on the outside but leaped with joy on the inside. He walked over back to the chair and sat down, secretly doing a victory dance. She offered him a glass of wine and accepted.

"You always liked chick flicks didn't you red?" Brock asked. "They're my favorite. Especially this one." He looked at the television screen and realized what she had been watching. "Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan huh? Oldie but a goodie." Brock told her. Reba laughed and nodded. He looked over at her and smiled. He loved that laugh. He loved her smile, her eyes, her hair, her body, her everything.

There was an awkward, silent pause between the two. Brock on the chair, and Reba on the couch, they sat and watched the movie. About 45 minutes into the movie Reba stood up and said, "I'm getting hungry, do you want anything?" "Sure I can eat." Brock said as they both went into the kitchen. "How about grilled cheese?" Reba asked while Brock sat on one of the bar stools. "Rebas famous grilled cheese sandwich, I would love one." She smiled and then began to cook two grilled cheese sandwiches. Brock watched her make her little moves in the kitchen and fought every feeling he still felt for that woman.

"You know Reba, Barbra Jean never made grilled cheese like you." Brock said. "Well, she obviously made everything else better than me or ya wouldn't have left me for her." Reba said quietly as she turned the stove off. She didn't think Brock could hear since she sort of mumbled it, but he did, every word. "Reba, why do you have to bring that up all the time?" Brock said starting to raise his voice. "Maybe because it's still a big part of our lives Brock." That made Brock stop thinking every thought he was thinking. "Reba, I thought we were all over that by now." "Well, maybe you are, but I don't think I ever did." Reba said cutting the grilled cheese in half.

"Reba..." Brock placed his hand over hers after she put the knife down. Reba looked at their hands and then back up at Brock. She slid her hand out from under his and then brought the two plates to the kitchen table. Brock looked down in despair. He got up and sat at the table next to Reba and both took a bite of their sandwiches. "Reba, can we talk please." Reba sighed and agreed. "Look, I know me having an affair messed up some things..." Reba then cut him off, "Brock it did way more than that. It ruined our relationship, it was hard on the kids, and Barbara Jean makes everything a fiasco." Brock just stared at her wondering why he ever let her go. "I'm sorry." Brock whispered. "Well Brock, sometimes sorry isn't good enough. You caused me so much pain and misery." Reba said as a tear left her eye. Brock hated seeing her cry, especially when he was the reason she was crying. Brock grabbed her hand again and rubbed the top of her hand with his thumb. She didn't pull her hand away and this made Brock smile on the inside.

"Reba, believe it or not, I would do anything to go back and change things. If I would have put the toaster back, we might have stayed together." Brock hoped this would make her smile, and it did. "Maybe I should have put my car on the right side of the garage." Reba said. "Reba, don't blame anything on yourself. I am the reason we aren't with each other anymore. You were the perfect wife, and my best friend. And you still are. Well, the best friend part." Brock said. "Brock..." He cut her off. "I was so wrong. Everything I did was wrong and look what I've done Reba." He said choking back tears himself. Reba squeezed his hand and gave him a reassuring smile. "Reba, I've wanted to tell you this for so long." Reba was afraid to hear his next sentence. "No matter what happened or what happens in the future, I will always love you deep inside. And not as the mother of my children. But as that same 19 year old girl that I fell in love with 25 years ago." Reba had tears still streaming down her cheeks. Brock took his hand a wiped them away. "And I want you to know that I was wrong. So, so, so wrong."

"I, I don't know what to say." Reba said crying. "Don't say anything." Then he stood up and walked away to the living room. Reba pondered on what she should do next. She knew if she didn't do it now, she never would. So she stood up and followed him into the living room before he walked out on her again. "Wait..." Reba said stopped at the entry way to the kitchen. Brock had a huge grin on his face and turned around to look at his one and only love. They slowly walked closer to each other. "Brock, im gonna say this one time because this is very hard for me." She took a deep breath and looked in his eyes. "I never wanted you to go. I wish you would have put the toaster back and I wish this whole crap storm would have never happened. I do miss us, and I miss you. I miss my moron." She laughed. Brock was beaming. "So what are you saying, Red?" She shrugged her shoulders. "But brock, I don't think I can fall in love with you again." Brocks heart stopped. "What, why?" He asked. "Because I never stopped." She said quietly. Now Brock had the biggest smile on his face.

"So your saying you love me too?" Brock asked picking up her hand that was by her side. She nodded. "But Brock, before we ever consider getting back together, were taking it slow. I don't think I could go through another heart break. Especially by you." "Reba, I could never, ever, hurt you again. I don't know how or why I ever did, but I promise you, things will be different. Some the same, some different." Brock said reassuringly.

"Well what would you want to stay the same?" She asked. "I think I need to show you, and then you'll know." So he lifted her chin with his finger and leaned in slowly to kiss her lips. Reba was shocked but certainly satisfied. After a few seconds Reba pulled back. "Oh yeah, that. I don't want that to be different at all." Reba said. "Still feels the same doesn't it?" Brock smiled. She nodded and leaned in to hug him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and she got on her tip toes to put her arms around his neck. Brock buried is face in the side of her neck and kissed it a couple times. "Brock..." She giggled. "What did I say about taking it slow?" "I'm sorry, I just never thought I would be able to go that again. It feels good to have you in my arms again." He said. "It does, doesn't it?" Reba smiled at him. "I love you." They said at the same time. They laughed at their perfect timing and then walked over to the couch.

Brock sat down first and Reba plopped down right beside him. He lifted his arm to put around her and she nestled under it. "I have really missed this, reba. More than I realized." "Me too." Reba said grabbing his other hand and playing with his fingers. "I miss the way you look in the morning, the way we used to stay up talking together until midnight, the way we fit perfectly together, the way you look when your all dolled up to go out, seeing you with our kids everyday, and I miss saying I love you whenever I want and kissing you whenever and wherever I want." Reba laughed at his last comment. "I miss it to. I miss the way you would come home from work and kiss me hello and the kids would all scream 'EW', the way you are with the kids, how you always would say you love me at the funniest times, and how we would curl up together at the end of the day in our bed, in our room, in our house. I miss us." Reba said. Brock kissed her hand and pulled her more towards him.

Then Reba looked up and gave him a kiss on the lips. It didn't last long but it was enough to make both of them feel dizzy. "I love you. And I will spend the rest of my life telling you that because that's how it's supposed to be. Me and you." Brock said to her. "I love you too, Brock." And that's how it was supposed to be.
