Hello! I decided to make this short story because I had a lot of feels, okay? Enjoy!
There was an orphan girl. She was lonely and never had any friends. Every night, she wish that she can have a friend that would stick by her side.
One day, she was walking along an alley when she saw a baby puppy. Lost and alone, it reminded her of herself. She tried to pick it up, but it snarled at her. She set down some meat and stepped away.
Soon, the puppy ate the meat and the little girl smiled, feeling a lot more cheerful.
The next day, she walked by the alley again. The puppy was waiting for her. She smiled and set some meat down. She stepped away, the puppy ate the meat happily. The little girl skipped back to the orphanage cheerfully.
The third day, the puppy was waiting for her again. She set down some meat. The puppy didn't hesitate before gobbling it all up. It looked at the girl with hopeful eyes, the girl laughed and set down some more meat.
After a week, the puppy let the little girl pet it. She was thrilled and happy about it.
For two years, they repeated that same process. The little girl would walk past the alley at two p.m sharp. The puppy is always waiting for her. She would set down some extra meat from shopping and the puppy would eat it. The girl would pet the dog for a while and walk away.
One normal day, the girl went to the alley at two p.m sharp. But she didn't see the endearing puppy anywhere.
She waited and waited. She waited for so long, but the puppy never showed up. She went back to the orphanage, brokenhearted.
Day after day, she went to the alley. The puppy never showed up. She grew into a young woman, still, she waited.
Every day, two p.m sharp, she would go to the alley and wait. She would wait for hours. But the puppy would never show up.
When she reached 87 years old, she knew she had to die soon. She went to the alley and knelt down where the puppy used to wait for her and wept.
She cried and cried. She poured out all her emotions. She cried how she just wanted the puppy, her only friend, back. She remembered how she always waited excitingly for two p.m sharp every day for two years. She remembered how she walked away from that alley each day, heart warm.
The next day, she died, No one mourned her, just like no one mourned the puppy, except her. Nobody knew that the only good thing in her life, the puppy, was torn away from her. Her dying wish was to see that puppy one more time.
She never did.
Because nothing good is meant to last forever.
