Mone

" Two more days until the wedding Kali.. I can't wait." I smiled as we were looking for some silver heels for my dress and nice block heels for the reception. "I'm excited for you girl." She smiled as we turned into Nordstrom. "I just wish that Zayn was here to see all of this." I mumbled as we walked through the casual shoe section.

"Hi. How may I help you? Anything specific you're looking for?" An older white lady asked as she looked me up and down. "No. We're just browsing." I spoke as I did the same. "Okay. Let me know if you need anything."She forced a smile. "Kali you seen that?" I rolled my eyes as we continued the search.

"No Kal... Heel is too short." I frowned as we were on the tenth shoe in the section. I sensed a bad feeling, as if I were being watched. Sure enough, it was the same old white lady watching us like a hawk.

"Excuse me!" I called over to her. She walked over with a disgusted look. "Get me these in an eight and in eight and half. Thanks." I said as I dropped the shoe in her hand. I walked to the register and there was another old white woman who smiled nicely. "Hi. May I speak to a manager please. I have a complaint." I frowned, which transferred to her face. "Okay no problem." She said as she turned to grab the phone and call someone. A tall, young, white man came over quickly. "Hello ladies, is there a problem?" He looked at Kali and me. "Yes. The lady who has yet to bring my shoes to me was watching me like a hawk. She keeps shooting rude looks in our direction and breathing down our necks like we're going to steal. I really don't want to call my husband and get him down here." I pushed a couple strands of hair behind my ear. "Oh no. I'm so sorry about this. Did you happen to catch her name?" He asked and I shook my head. "Short, aged, white lady. She has blonde hair and heavy makeup. And let's not forget I'm still waiting on my shoes. My wedding is in two days sir." I fixed my gold frames on my face. "Barbra." The cashier mumbled and the manager shook his head. "I apologize for the inconvenience. I will speak to her on your behalf. This company does not tolerate that kind of behavior. Do you still want to try the shoes?" He spoke and I shook my head. "No sir. But thank you anyway." I spoke before leaving out.

"Can you believe that?" Kali stressed as we got in the car. "Girl, I can believe it but it never ceases to amaze me." I mumbled.

We are living in a world where slight progress has been made. Yes, any progress is progress but, I wanna be treated like a normal human being for once. I got money to buy any and everything but I will not give commission to a racist ass motherfucker who won't do right by me.

Rome

My phone started to ring and a picture of Mone popped up on the screen. I picked it up and placed the phone to my ear to hear her cussing like a sailor. "Simone. What's going on?" I asked before hearing her pause. "Rome. So you know how Kali and I went out to find me some shoes right?" She asked.

"Right". I replied.

"So we walked in to Nordstrom's cause they might've had some shit I may like. This crusty, old, white bitch approached us like a regular worker. "Hello, how may I help you? Are you looking for anything specific?" She mimicked her. I'm already trying not to chuckle at the 'crusty, old, white bitch' part.

"You listening?" She huffed and I replied yes.

"So I say no, we're browsing but I'll let you know. " she paused to take a breath. "Then this lady following us around the store and breathing down our neck like a damn dog. Then she making lil stank faces. She lucky she old. I don't drag old folks." I heard Kali laugh.

"She'll miss out on commission from you. We'll talk about things when you get home. Just relax and focus on trying to get yourself together okay? I love you." I spoke and she sighed.
