Confusion (Venella-Jai)

What if Venella had seen Jai and Manasa together before Jai came back? What is she thought they were in love?

I squinted my eyes to look again but the scene did not change. It was my Jai. You might think that since I was seeing him for the first time in about an year I'd be happy but not if he's smiling and flirting with some other girl. I know that the last time we saw each other was not a good time but I always assumed that in the end he would come back to me. Didn't he promise me that he'll always keep me in his heart? So what happened now?

I quickly turned around wiping my tears. Like everyday I had gotten out of my house with an excuse that I needed to visit the temple. Truth though is that like everyday I was missing my Jai and needed sometime with myself and with the memories of him. A whole year went by but he never called. Never sent a letter or a message. Was this the reason? Has he already found someone else for himself! But then he never told me to wait for him when he left. I just assumed that this is what I was supposed to do and honestly what else could I have done. I love him. I'll always love him. So I did what fools in love do. I waited for him. Now he has moved on. What am I supposed to do? Move on just like that.

Is that why he never tried to come back? Because of me? Because he felt guilty? Although I'm angry at him for doing this I don't want him to be away from his father. I know what to do to make sure that atleast this reason doesn't stop him from coming back.

It was almost night time when I stood in front of my house. I don't remember walking or for that matter doing anything after I saw Jai but I guess I don't need to. I entered inside my house to see everyone worried. Just then my mother spotted me and came to me.

'Veena? Kaha gayi thi tu? Kabse tere papa tujhe gaon meh har jagah dhund rahe the!' (Veena where did you go? Your father has been looking for you all over the village) She asked worried

'Maa wo mai..mujhe aapse kuch kehna hai.' (Mom actually there is something I wanted to tell you)I said tentatively

'Haa bol?' (Yes? Tell me?)My mother must have understood my predicament because she instantly dropped the topic of where I was the whole day.

'Maa mai shaadi karna chahti hu. Aap mere lie rishta dekh lijiye.' (I want to get married. Please look for a groom for me.)I said almost robotically. I could feel everyone's eyes on me. They were all surprised by this sudden request and why wouldn't they be, the girl who went to all these lengths to marry the guy of her choice is giving up on him just like that.

'Veena ekdum se kya hua? Beta hum jante hai ki tu Jai se pyaar karti hai aur hum terese sath koi zabardasti nahi karna chahte. Jabtak Jai wapas nahi aajata..' (Veena why this decision suddenly? We all know you love Jai and we don't want to force you into anything. Till the time Jai comes back...)

'Aur kabhi wapis nahi aaya toh? Zabardasti nahi maa mai apni marzi se shaadi kar rahi hu.' (And what of he never came back? You're not forcing me into anything. Getting married is my own decision) I said not meeting her eyes

'Veena aisa kya hogaya achanak. Tu toh pyaar karti haina Jai se..' (But why so suddenly? You love Jai don't you?)

'Pyaar sab kuch ni hota maa. Please aap bas mere liye ladka dekhna shuru kardijiye.' (Love is not everything mom. Please you just start looking for a groom for me.) I said and walked away to my room before anyone could ask me anymore questions. I could specially feel Deva uncle's eyes on me. Was he thinking that I was betraying his son by letting him go? But he doesn't know it's for the best. If Jai will get to know that I'm married he won't feel guilty and if he will not feel guilty maybe just maybe he'll come back.
