The smile that was on my face quickly faded. Ziven and a couple of his buddies walked into the kitchen, where I had myself perched against the sleek topped island.

"What do you guys want," I asked not wanting to deal with them. They honestly didn't need to make me feel like an intruder every day. I already knew that and wasn't sorry for it.

"Well if it isn't my most favorite person in the world. I really can't believe that you're still here, even after I told you to leave," he chuckled, trying to be more dramatic. It didn't work.

"Come on Liz he isn't worth it right now. You know we were just going to go head out," Mark was right. We planned on going out to the subway tunnels to go slay some demons. I really hated the tunnels but I wasn't going alone.

"Fine but we're leaving now," I said irritation evident in my voice. I bumped into Ziven on my way out.

"You better watch yourself Lizzia! You will leave here someday," I heard Ziven shout behind us, he sounded really upset. I didn't really totally understand what his problem was. All I knew was that I came here alone, and turned out to be the best fighter here. Which I was proud of for a short amount of time, until Ziven.

We got to the weapons room filled with all the armor and really cool knives and swords. I always felt like a kid in a candy store when I entered the weapons room. Not really normal for a shadowhunter.

I grabbed a couple of daggers and slide them into my belt. Next, I grabbed two seraph blades, and a golden whip, just in case. Though I really preferred the seraph blades. Mark was waiting by the entrance of the room already ready.

"You got enough weapons yet?"

"No Mark, I'm just getting started," I rolled my eyes as I said it. "Come on we need to get going, that is if we want to get back before dark." I knew he would agree, he was always a goodie two shoes. It was a rule not to come into the institute at like one in the morning, all dirty and bloody. The only exception was if it was an emergency. But I never agreed to most of the institute's rules. We left the room when we bumped into Mr. Castly. He was the institute's owner, well the head of the institute.

"And where do you two think you're going," he raised a scruffy eyebrow at us. He was a nice guy, he let me stay at the Institute anyway. Especially since what happened to the second PA Institute. I still had nightmares about it. I could never forget it, I shook my head to clear the bad thoughts.

"We were going to go to the subway tunnels if that's okay," Mark replied before I could. The only thing I could beat him at was combat, and that didn't really count, I was the best shadowhunter in the state. Not to be cocky.

Mark was Mr. Castly's youngest son, out of three. Ziven was nineteen, the second oldest and Derek was the oldest, twenty. I was going to be turning sixteen in about five months. Though I think Mr. Castly trusted me more than the boys, he knew I was the more responsible one, even though Ziven and Derek were considered adults. When you turned eighteen in the shadowhunter world you were considered an adult.

"Hmm, I guess you guys could go. Don't stay out too long. Oh and don't forget about the meeting in the morning, library. Just stay out of trouble if you can," he trailed off on the last part.

"Okay we will, we should be back in about two hours, maybe more. I'm bringing my phone just in case you need to call." I replied before Mark could. I knew Mark could be a sweet talker, but when Mr. Castly is being serious you know you should as well. With that, I turned Mark around quickly and started pushing him to the stairs. The Institute had a lot of floors, I'm not going to get into the detail only that we need to put in an elevator.

"Hey what was that for," Mark asked as I kept pushing him down the stairs.

"Well Ziven was at the end of the hallway, plus I really need to kill something."

"Well okay, Miss. Murderer. But do we really have to go to the tunnels? You know I really don't like the tunnels."

"Well Mr. Scaredy-cat," I said mimicking his Mrs. "I know you don't like the tunnels, but that's where you told your dad where we'll be at. So but your butt in gear."

"Aww, but Lizzia," he said in a pleading voice.

"Aww but Mark? No, we said we would go there and that's what we'll do." He was getting on my nerves now. We finally reached the end of the stair case, now to walk to the end of the hallway. The institute had a glamour on it so mundanes wouldn't see the huge Institute. It was glamoured to look like an abandoned building. Our institute was a lot bigger than normal, ours is like an elephant compared to a mouse to other institutes. I was really getting excited now. We were so close to the door, every time you walk down this hallway it feels like ages. I knew Ziven was following us, but I didn't think he would follow us the whole way through the Institute. He was so stupid sometimes.

"Lizzia! Where do you think you're going? You didn't get permission from my dad." He was yelling across the big hallway. Looks like trouble found us.

"Umm, yes we did Ziven," I said it in an irritated voice to show him I had no patience.

"Are you going to answer my other question?" I rolled my eyes at him.

"I'll answer that question no," Mark spoke up. I looked over at him.

"Fine, don't answer me." He mumbled under his breath.

"What was that I couldn't hear you?" I asked across the hallway.

"I said jerks, you jerks." He looked like he wanted to put his hands around my throat, the only thing from stopping him was the length of the hallway. I had enough with him. I grabbed a knife off my belt and threw it at him. I knew he would catch it, so I took that moment that he was focused on the blade, and used it to open the door and shove Mark out it. I didn't look back to see if Ziven caught it or not, plus if he didn't catch it, it should only graze the top of his shoulder.

"I liked that knife," I said out loud.

"Yeah but it should teach him, to mess with you," was Mark's reply. With that, we set out to the subway tunnels.
