Tears Of A Forgotten Queen

Chapter 1

It's hard to say if there was ever a time when the land of Asperia wasn't in war. One of the four kingdoms has had a reputation that followed it for ages,a bloody history of dominance and conquest. The Kingdom of Farren was a land of demons, dark creatures who cared only for their own and gaining power over others. For years,the three kingdoms complied with trades and other exchanges for peace. No one dared to step out of line,at least until the demon king passed away and his only child took over. A powerful Queen,Solaria released the tight hold on the kingdoms slowly and opened up fair trades. There was much doubt about how kind she truly was but people began to believe eventually, finding demons to be less black and white then believed. Solaria opened up great paths for alliances, interconnected roads for the kingdoms and Farren had gotten much more powerful. With a larger, well trained army the Queen had an alliance with the dragons of the far far North. It was said that a large black scaled one always circled the castle, having bonded with the Queen herself. For a while,everything was as peaceful as it could be. The kingdoms were thriving,the Queen had married and given birth to the next heir of the throne. A girl, it was said she had been blessed by a dragon who saw great things for her future. Someone who would continue to close the gaps which past Farren rulers had made. It was joyous news to all.

But nothing stays so good forever.

The kingdom of Farren closed off its gate suddenly,all the paths to the kingdom guarded heavily. The most noticably change was the fire, the smoke seen from every kingdom as the flames lit up the lands for over a week. When the fires went out,there was still no news what had occurred and no one could get to Farren. It was over a month later when messengers were sent, proclaiming the royal family dead and a new King on the throne. His name was Luthien and he gave only two options; obey his will or perish under his army. It was a tone that the kingdoms had wished to of left in the past but came back to haunt them. The fact was Solaria had made Farren so powerful,it was a fools move to go against the new king's wishes. All the kingdoms bowed,all except Gevina. The bird people of the west did not want to bow to a false King who was less of a demon then the past Queen who had provided much help for them. No one knows what happened, it is said they were all slaughtered by Luthien's armies and the cloak he wore was made of the feathers of all the people. Others say they ran away,moving as far as possible and are in hiding for an eternity, hoping for another upheavel to come back to aid in. If it ever occurs.

Twenty years later since Luthien took the throne,the two remaining kingdoms remain under his control. The merfolk of the west provided him with the crystals which grew in their rivers and the best fish they had. Most of their people suffered from lack of food or tremendous pressure of constantly working to find enough crystals to give the King when he came to collect. The Faye of the forest provided many materials from their lands and even people, as the King was a cruel collector of anything which he found beautiful. Many of the Faye species intrigued him and were ripped from their families,forced to serve in his domain doing who knows what terrible things. After all,no one has been inside of Farren's walls in over twenty years.

That was the history taught to Maggie by her mother, after a long day of working and barely scraping by to get enough food for them. Her mother never let her forget that history for the history of bloodshed,changing tides and total destruction were a part of Maggie. For unlike her gentle,timid mother the fires of the mountains had become a part of her. Eyes which reflected the end of an era, Magnolia was a demon who managed to escape the chaos of the bloody coup. Having been given to Nylla, though they had no blood relation she was her mother through and through. She had clothed her, raised her with knowledge of her past of demons and Faye alike and kept her safe from the raids that occurred. For any demons outside of Farren were meant to be turned in as traitors, as order of the King. Thankfully no one truly came to the slums and the close knit community seemed to keep quiet of her existence. For while Maggie had gentle features and long white hair which could of passed as belonging to a Faye creature,her fiery eyes and rather tall stature gave her away. For the only Faye creatures that were as tall as her had very different features, one being very black eyes. Still her mother loved her for her and it was them against the world, being a widow how had found herself displaced and alone in the world.
