Dylan's POV
"Bedtime, boys!" Mom shouted as she came back inside from the old church house.
Zach and Dylan were watching T.V. when Mom came into the room. "Bedtime," she repeated, standing in front of the T.V. "Yeah just a second," Dylan told her, straining his neck to see the T.V. behind her, Zach doing the same. "No, come on," Mom said impatiently, turning the T.V. off. Zach groaned and stomped up the stairs angrily. Dylan quickly got up after him and followed him.
He got ready for bed and waited. Waited for the horror that would come again, just like the night before. But, he didn't want that. Not again. Dylan pulled the sheets over his head and tried to at least have a better dream but something didn't feel right. It felt like he was being watched by something or someone. Dylan lifted up his sheets and saw a pale boy's face staring at him, smiling. The boy was sitting on his bedside, and he looked older than him, about 13 or 14 years old. He was oddly well-dressed like he went to Church or something special. He sat up, startled by his appearance. "Who are you?" Dylan asked, surprisingly not scared of this ghostly boy.
"Milo. " the boy introduced himself in a sweet, soft, warming voice. "Oh, and my name is Dylan," he said. Milo held out his hand. Dylan reached out and shook it. His hand was cold and rough, yet Dylan enjoyed touching them. Milo let out a laugh that sounded like a small giggle. Dylan's face got red, wondering if he had done something wrong. "Don't worry, nothing's wrong," Milo reassured him. "Uh, um, okay," Dylan said, clearly confused at the situation. He didn't know why, but he felt comfortable with this odd boy. Dylan got an odd feeling in his stomach, though, he had no idea where it came from, or, more so, what it meant.
'Does this mean I have a crush on this boy I just met?' Dylan thought to himself. Dylan knew it wasn't true, he wanted to give himself a facepalm because it was the stupidest thing he ever thought about. 'Or do I?' Dylan asked, but then shook his head to clear his main from that question. Besides, there were more important questions to be asking this Milo, like 'Why was he here?' "How come you are here?" Dylan asked.
"Well, let's just say I'm here to get rid of your nightmares," Milo said cheerfully. Dylan shivered as Milo said nightmares. He had been having them since him, Zach and Mom moved here. It was the same thing every time. Dylan began to get the chills and felt uncomfortable, he turned his head down to look into his lap. Milo must have noticed because he said, "Hey don't worry, I know a way to make it end" The older boy raised his hand and placed it on Dylan's shoulder, trying to comfort him.
Dylan looked up to see Milo's face inches away from his, their eyes meeting each other's. Dylan opened his eyes wide, and he didn't know what to do. Milo came closer to Dylan, and Dylan moved his head back a little bit, not wanting to know what Milo would do next. Milo was now at least a centimeter away from Dylan's face, their eyes still locked on each other. Milo moved his hands just below Dylan's jawline and pulled him towards Milo. Then Milo kissed him. Dylan was sure his face ran red like a fresh, ripe tomato, though he held the kiss, but then pulled away after a couple of seconds.
"Awe, you look so cute when you blush!" Milo exclaimed. "Um..Th.Thanks?" Dylan didn't know what to say, but he thought his face was going to explode. He broke their gaze, by looking back towards the ground. Milo suddenly felt guilty for kissing him so soon. "I'm..I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that so soon," Milo apologized, but then continued. "I know we just met, well kinda, but it's just that you are so adorable and I couldn't help myself." Milo was now fidgeting with his fingers, and Dylan could see he was nervous about what he'd say next.
"It's okay. And don't worry, I'm not mad at all," Dylan reassured him, trying his best not to say the wrong thing that would make the new boy any more guilty than he already was. The truth was, Dylan wanted Milo to kiss him again. Even though it shocked him, he still enjoyed the small kiss. 'Then this must mean I do have feelings for this boy!' Dylan shouted in his mind. 'I never even thought I would get the feeling of liking someone ever since we moved here to get away from Dad.' The thought of his Dad sent chills down his spine, making him shake his body.
Milo noticed and looked concerned. "Dylan, are you okay?" Dylan looked up and said "Oh, it's nothing. Just thought about..." "You're dad?" Milo finished for him. "Yeah, how did you know?" Dylan asked, very confused about how Milo knew this. "Don't worry about it, I just know things," the ghostly boy said, trying to reassure Dylan it was okay. "Did my brother, Zach, tell you?" Dylan asked. He was going to very angry at his brother if he did. "No don't worry, I don't even talk to him. You're the one I picked, not your brother, anyway." Milo responded, smiling at him.
This is what confused Dylan the most. 'What did Milo mean by 'you're the one I picked, not you brother'?' Dylan asked himself. He decided to ask Milo what it meant. "What do you mean by that?" "Oh, uh... You'll know soon enough when the time comes," Milo explained to him. Dylan gave him a concerned look but decided not to argue with him. "Are you ready to go?" Milo asked excitingly. "Uh, to go where exactly?" Dylan asked.
"Follow me, Dylan. I'll show you how to make the bad dreams go away," Milo stood up, holding his hand out for Dylan to take. Dylan reached his hand out and took Milo's hand. The older boy smiled at him and lead him out of his room.
