Being an immortal had always been normal for me, even if no one around me ever had had that luxury. Everyone around me died, and not necessarily in the way that some might then start to think that I might be 'cursed' or something silly like that. No, I was simply an immortal, while everyone else simply passed away, whether it was from old age, disease, or sometimes people ended up just getting killed, whether it was an accident, or whether in was an attack; either way, people died, and it is because of that which caused me to try to stay away from others, or it would just constantly hurt with each life that passed by me. As the immortal of this Assiah realm, I was forced into a continuous and endless existence, no matter who may have passed away around me.
The world had a way of still making things difficult though, and even if I was immortal, it didn't mean that I always looked the same. For example, what feels like mere moments ago, I had the body of a gorgeous woman, tall and curvy in 'all the right places', so they say, or at least in a way that would benefit me, and each life after death allowed me to take on a completely new form. Granted, in the previous body, I occasionally got the sneaky grope or someone trying to get into my clothes, but after many millennia of existing, I know how I could protect myself; unless someone was lucky enough to damage my weak spot.
For me, my weak spot was essentially my 'heart', which was currently in the same place as a normal human being's heart would be. If my heart did end up getting attacked, I suppose that I do die, but I come back to life within about an hour or so, if the timing's correct.
Currently, I was in between those two sections of life, the closest to a permanent death that I could get. I was always brought to this location, in some sort of dimension that was void of any sort of light or physical objects, where I was simply floating in darkness, the images of other worlds flickering through my head. It wasn't as if I was going to end up in one of those though, I was simply having glimpses of the lives of other immortals that lived in the infinite number of other universes that I would never get a chance to actually experience, and it was distressing to have my mind flooded with those images, some being heart wrenching and terrifying, and some being heartwarming. Least to say, it was a lot to take in all at once.
I had gotten cocky while I had been running from a few demons, running and jumping through trees and plantation, enjoying the thrill as I raced through the forest, and I had kind of forgotten about protecting myself, and by the time that I had actually remembered anything to do with fighting off the demons, some demonic vines from an unseen creature had stabbed through my chest, destroying my heart and lungs to shreds. I then quickly slipped into unconsciousness, and into this void where I was alone with my thoughts and the images of other worlds, and I could feel my body resetting.
I was trying to decide what body I would have this time seeing as I've had so many now: some tall, short, skinny, or fat, pale or dark skinned, and a fair few times, I've taken on a body that was not human. This time, though, I was thinking of maybe taking the form of a body which would be more normal, rather than the gorgeous body I had last time, something that maybe wouldn't bring that much attention to me. It would certainly allow me a chance to lay low for a while.
I finally decided on taking the body of a teenage guy, with a slightly shorter than average body, pale skin and black hair, although then again, I didn't want to seem to boring, and decided on silvery-blue eyes and gave myself a cute face, or at least what I thought was cute, and maybe I was biased from watching too many animes and reading too much manga, but I really liked the idea of the person that I was thinking of physically, but it was certainly a lot less attention-grabbing than my last busty, elegant and tall figure.
