Pain

I don't remember when the pain started.
Your pain. The dull pain that made my ears ring.
All I remember is my determination.
It was type of pain that made me want scream.
Fall to my knees and cry to the heavens.
"Why, God, Why?!"
It numbs my body.
It makes me feel hollow and helpless.
You are like an empty glass. Fragile.
All you need is to be filled.
Yet somehow, I can't pour correctly.
I have fumbled with the glass so many times.
I have dropped and shattered you.
Into a million pieces.
I have caused you great pain.
But I have glued you together, hoping to seal your cracks.
Hoping to hold you together.
But I fail. I fail. I fail.
I don't remember when the pain started.
But I do remember that even with the cuts on my fingers.
Blood seeping from my hands.
I will keep picking up your pieces.
I will keep gluing you together.
I will keep holding you tenderly. Lovingly.
I have to.
I want to.
All for you.
