Six thirty a.m. and I moaned as my alarm went off. I hit snooze twice before finally getting out of bed and showering. I pack everything I would need for school today before going to the kitchen where I could smell eggs and bacon.

"Good morning honey." my mom smiled at me.

I smiled back, "Morning."

"Bacon or sausage?" she asked.

I shook my head, "Thanks but I don't have time for breakfast. I'm running late."

"You have to eat breakfast." she said.

"I'll just grab a bagel." I shrugged pouring a small glass of orange juice.

"Alright." she sighed.

"Sorry, I'll get up on time tomorrow." I kissed her cheek, "Bye mama."

"Are you coming home right after school?" she called after me.

"Yes." I turned around.

"Alright, bye. Love you." she waved.

"Love you too." I went to my car.

On my way to school I picked up my two best friends. There's Austin who absolutely hates his name so in the second grade my dad renamed him Tank. Sometimes I forget his name is even Austin. Then there's Greyson who I've only known a few years but we're all pretty close. People around school call us the Three Musketeers.

"Hockey sign ups today boys!" Greyson said rubbing my shoulders on our way into the school.

I pushed him off and moved away, "Yeah."

"I hope I make varsity this year." Tank said.

"It was total crap you didn't make it last year." I said, "You too, Grey."

He shrugged, "I don't know how Caiden Butler beat me out for a spot."

"Yeah, well you can have my spot this year. I'm not signing up." I said.

"Next joke." they both laughed it off.

I gave them a serious look, "I'm really not signing up."

The caught on that I wasn't joking, "What?" Greyson said following by Tank asking, "Why?"

"Junior year is just overwhelming. I want to keep up with my studies." I explained.

"Since when have you cared about school?" Greyson asked unwrapping a granola bar.

"He should care." Tank said but continued, "We've played on the same team for the past seven years. You can't just quit now."

"I have too." we made it inside by this point and we were all crowded around my locker. The next thing I knew there were arms being wrapped around my neck, I jumped, "Dear God! Please tell me that's Riley?" I looked over to Tank.

He laughed and shook his head, "Yupp."

"Jumpy jumpy." she said behind me.

I turned around and kissed her, "I can't help it." Riley and I have been together for about nine months now. I love her to death.

"Did you do your history homework?" she asked.

My face dropped, "Damn it. No."

"Ew and we have it first period so you can't even do it in study hall." Tank pointed out as if I didn't already know that.

"I mean if you're not doing hockey he can't make you do extra laps so there's nothing to worry about." Greyson said. Our history teacher's name is Mr. Faye and he doubles as our varsity hockey coach.
