Summer. A season for vacation and fun in the sun. A time of the year where some relaxation is needed. Of course the day has to be perfect. Clear skies, a gentle breeze, not too hot. And it just so happens today was a perfect summer day. Children played in their yards or in pools while adults lounged on lawn chairs or just relaxed. Yes some people worked but ignoring them, one would see how great today was. In fact it could have been considered the best day of the year for most people.
For Jumin Han it could be considered one of the worst days of his life.
He had been invited to his father's funeral. His father who had been over seas on vacation for a month now without any word, like he had disappeared. He had been given title of chairman of his company on his father's funeral day. And to top it all off, he was now standing next to his father with two children in front of him. One was five the other was two. They stared up at him with tired blue eyes, their fingers entangled together. Jumin's problem with these kids is that they are his younger brothers. The oldest one resembled Jumin, which was a little unsettling to him. The younger must resemble his mother seeing as he had fire red hair and he looked nothing like Jumin's family.
"Jumin," a soft voice called out to him. Turning he sees the body guard that went with his father. Pity shown in her eyes. Jumin closed his, preparing himself for what she had to say.
"My father seems to have been busy these past five years," Jumin stated rather bitterly. He wanted to sound calm but he failed.
"They have no where else to go," she informed.
"What of their mother?"
"Jumin, she's no where to be found. She vanished."
"So she abandoned them?" Jumin asked as he glanced over at his father.
"It would seem that way. Besides your father stated in his will, he wanted you to raise them."
"I don't have time to raise children. I'll be busy three days from now, who knows when I'll get a break."
"I'm only telling you what I know. What you do with them is up to you," she says before bowing and excusing herself. Jumin exhaled. He gives his father a disappointed look as he turned to greet his brothers. The eldest glared at him as he clutched his baby brother's hand. Jumin blinked.
"You gonna get rid of us too?" The five year old asked. The two year old slipped out of the older one's grasp and waddled over to the casket. He tried climbing it. Jumin gently grabs the toddler by the shoulder, which made the other child smack Jumin's away and yanked his brother to himself. Jumin obviously did not make a good first impression.
"Why daddy a sleep? Wake up daddy!" Everyone in the room froze and became silent when they heard the boy. Jumin sighs and knelt down, patting the toddler on the head.
"He'll be asleep for a while, fath- daddy is sick," Jumin half lied.
"He get better?" Toddler asked looking as if he would cry. Jumin looked at the five year old who seemed shocked his baby brother didn't know.
"Yes.... He'll get better," the business man lied. Toddler smiled while the five year old gasped because he knew it was a lie. "What are your names?"
"I'm Jisoo and our baby brother is Jiwoon," Jisoo answered. Jiwoon raised his arm in the air and gave a goofy grin.
"I Jiwoon! You Jumin!"
"Ah... Yes I am," he tiredly smiles. He had a strange feeling he was not going to be able to mourn due to work and his brothers. If he kept them that is. Should he keep them, or give them up for adoption? He was pulled from his thoughts when Jiwoon gasped.
"Big brother, big big brother!" He yells pointing to Jisoo first and then Jumin. Jisoo drags Jiwoon to the food and Jumin mumbles under his breath.
-Later-
Jumin leans against the door frame, watching the sunset; two large envelopes in his hand. He was mentally exhausted from having to deal with people. Remembering work, he sighs and pulls his phone out, dialing Jaehee's number. No answer. He leaves a message telling her she had three days of starting tomorrow, then pocketed the phone. He groaned after his brothers' existence popped up in his mind. He massages his forehead, not wanting to deal with them. He'd make the decision later. The more he thought about it now, the more angry he got. He desperately wanted to see Elizabeth right now, no he needed her. His phone rings.
"Jumin, I just heard. I'm so sorry. I wish I could have made it to the funeral." V's voice rang out through the speaker.
"Thank you V. I wish you could have too."
"I'll be back next week, I'll stop by. If there's anything you need, even if it's just to talk, I'm here."
"I appreciate that. V... How do you raise kids?"
"Why do you ask?" V asked after a pause.
"Because I have two younger brothers. A two year old and a five year old. To be honest I'm not sure if I should raise them."
"Jumin... I can't decide that for you, but I'll support your decision."
"I'm going to decide in three days. I... I don't want to think about anything right now."
"That's understandable."
"V I have to go," Jumin informs when his hand was tugged on.
"Ah alright. I'll see you next week, we can even open some wine."
"Yes, I'd like that. See you then," he smiles softly. Both wait in silence for the other to hang up. Jumin finally does and slides his phone into his pocket. Looking down he sees Jisoo holding his hand. Jiwoon was rubbing his right eye with the back of his hand, the other holding onto Jisoo's hand.
"Jiwoon is sleepy," he informs, with a scowl. Jumin nods.
"You two can sleep at my place for now," he stared as he walks them to the waiting car. The three scoot inside, shutting the doors behind them. As the car pulls away heading towards Jumin's house, Jumin stares out the window thinking of the last thing he said to his father as he cups a sleeping Jiwoon's hand.
