"see you make your way through the crowd, and say hello"
-
"millie! where are you!!" i heard my mother shout. I quickly put my silk dressing gown on and ran down the flight of stairs. "millie bobby brown! if you're not here by-"
"i'm here mother." i said casually fixing my hair behind her. She whipped her body around with a sigh of relief. "10 more minutes until the party starts, remember?" she reminded, i tilted my head slightly, with a smile, "yes, i remember.." i trailled off trying get away but was too quick to grab me. "you're not even done!! where's your dress!?" she shrieked. I rolled my eyes. "Nancy!! Nancy, Come here!!" she yelled. Nancy arrived, "Yes ma'am?" she replied with a smile followed my a small bow.
"millie hasn't got a dress, help her!" she demanded and left. i gave a giggle and looked at Nancy who looked like she could burst laughing in any second. "Come on, you!" she laughed. I joined her laughter as we walked up to my room. "Nancy?" I said, she hummed in response fixing my dress. "Do you like my family?" I asked as I fiddled with my necklace. Nancy instantly stood up. "What question is that? Of course I do! That's why I decided to stay as soon as you came to this world!" She exclaimed hugging me. "I guess, nance." I smiled accepting her hug. "okay, try this dress on!" she squealed.
Gently, I put my arms through the holes where they are meant to go, then stretching my neck I put my head through the entrance of the dress. Then I noticed something. I don't have a cover for my shoulders!! "Um..Nancy?" I said slightly panicking. "Oh! That's meant to be there, it's a sleveless dress!" She laughed, finishing some touches to the dress. "There you go! Ready to go out?" She asked. I backed away from the door, "I am not meeting any boy tonight." I said crossing my arms. "Come on, Millie! Don't be like this! Of course you do!" Nancy smiled trying to get a hold of my hands. "No! I don't care what mother and father says! I think, I need to have the choice on who I should date and marry!" I protested. "Millie, I think so too. But, if you don't go, you know what will happen, so either way.." She said.
True. It's either I come or I don't, I'm going to be in trouble anyways. I gave a sigh and walked out the door. As I travelled down the hallways, I could here people chattering away and classical music. "I look weird." I said stopping in my tracks. "Millie. Please?" Nancy begged. I shook my head. "Look, just look at a boy's eyes, then later say to your mother you've atleast seen 1 boy." She suggested. "But, that's lying! That's breaking mother's rules!" I gasped. "Sweetie, rules were made to be broken." she whispered. I followed Nancy from behind as we walked down the stairs.
"Oh! There she is!!" I heard my mother squeal. I appeared behind Nancy's back, to see a tall boy with perfect facial features. He was holding a masquerade mask and wearing a navy blue tuxedo. I made my way to them. "This is my daughter, Millie." She paused, "Millie, this is the Beckham's. This is Mr.David Beckham, Mrs.Victoria Beckham and their 3 children. Harper Beckham, Brooklyn Beckham and this is Romeo Beckham." she smiled widely.
"Good evening." I said bowing, not breaking eye contact with Romeo. He smirked slightly.
"Millie. Why don't you show Romeo around?" Mother suggested. I looked at her with my eyebrows raised. "Of course." I said, I motioned Romeo to come with me as we walked away from the adults. "I haven't seen you around here.." I said starting a conversation.
"I'm new here. My family lived 4 mansion away." He said. Oh, so, he's in the higher class.
"Your little sister is cute." I smiled. "Oh yeah? But she's annoying." He chuckled.
"I'm sure she's not." I said getting a drink. "Want one?" I asked, he shook his head. He looked weird to me, and it's making me feel uncomfortable.
"I'll be back." I said quickly as I walked fast into the crowd, away from him.
"Millie! There you are! We're starting the dance!" My father spotted me. "What!? Now!?" I complained, "Shush, Millie." He exclaimed grabbing me and placing me in a circle of women dancing. Okay, i've got this, just copy them! I connected hands with the women and danced around. I laughed a little bit as it was fun going round in circles. And I was twirling, something caught my eye. A person with a matte white mask, I couldn't see who it was, but the person had brown sparkly big eyes, wearing a white tux. I got distracted and fell over. I laughed it off, as Nancy came into view.
"Millie!" She exclaimed laughing. "Sorry, I got distracted." I said brushing away dirt on my dress.
"Oh, right. well, get a drink, sweetheart." she said as she playfully slapped my back. I walked over to the drink table near 2 columns and a red big curtain behind. Filling my cup to the top with water, I swayed to the music. Then something urged me to look for the brown eyes I saw at the circle. I leaned on one of the columns trying to get up from the desk to look for the person with a white tuxedo. He wouldn't be hard to find, half of the boys were wearing blue, navy blue or black tux. Then something cold touched my hands. I gave a gasp, jumping off the table.
I felt the hand grasped onto my mine as it pulled me into the red curtain.
"What the.."
"Shh..." I heard a voice. I turned around to see a boy with curly hair, and those sparkly brown eyes. My eyes widened at what I saw.
"Why would you do that!?" I responded with a squeal flicking away my hand from his.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know how to approach you in a 'higher class' way." He answered. His answer made me giggle. "There's no other way, in the 'higher class way'," I said. He gave me a smile.
"How come you're the only one wearing white?" I asked cluelessly.
"Because I can?" He said stepping closer to me. I gave a smile at his move.
"So, who did you come here with?" I asked as I gently pushed him with my index fingers, indicating he was too close. "Just a few of my friends.." He trailed off as he grabbed my finger.
"Your hands are cold.." I said with a slight smile.
"And yours are amazingly warm.." He said leaning closer. I closed my eyes as I felt his present really close. We only just met, why is everything going too fast?
"Millie!" I heard a voice exclaim, I gave a gasp and instantly turned around.
"You silly girl! Your mother's calling you!" Nancy exclaimed grabbing onto me and dragging me away. I looked back, and I saw him putting his mask back on.
"Please don't put your mask on," I whispered.
"There you are!! Here!!" My mother squealed. She gave me a twirl and then by a quick second I was on somebody's arms. Romeo's arms.
"Would you care to dance?" he smiled. I gave a gulp, not too noticable though.
"i'd love too." I answered as I took his hands, swaying with the beat.
I looked to my side.
There he was.
The person who I've yet to know the name of, starring at me.
I bit my lips and looked at Romeo, then back at the strange boy.
But, he wasn't there...I saw him walking away with 3 other boys.
Is this the last time I'll see him.
Oh, I hope not.
