"So what's it like being pretty?", he asked, turning his head sideways, his tired eyes— half open— piercing right through mine.

For the first time in a long time, I felt vulnerable. And for the first time in god knows how long, I liked it.

I looked down at the roofs of the tiny townhouses beneath us. Funny how we'd only been talking for a month and then shortly after, found ourselves there. On the rooftop of my Aunt Lina's apartment building. Sitting on cold concrete. Tightly wrapped together in a random resident babushka's old Russian quilt to keep us from freezing in the cold summer night as we stared down at the town before us with its dainty toy houses wrapped in blue and silver light. Amusing, really.

I looked back only to find he hadn't looked away at all.  "Whaddyou meeeeaaan? I've always looked like this," I finally replied.

He snickered.

He turned away to look back at our view of the town.

I was still staring at him. I liked how the moonlight would reflect off of his ghostly pale skin. I liked how this one extra curly strand of his dark blonde locks would always fall down on his face. I liked it. I liked it that way.

What a view.

"What?", he asks, looking back at me with a radiant smile. He rarely ever smiled. It was so rare, I never would have even guessed that there would be any chance it'd look so innocent, so youthful, so full of life.

For some reason, we kept on gazing into each other's eyes like those scenes in cartoons where the two lovebird characters' eyes are chained together by electric sparks. Though, not as comical.

"Which one's your favorite?", I blurted out and broke the silence, "which o' these houses?"

"The light blue one."

"But there's no light blue one....?", I asked, flustered.

"Exactly."

We looked back at each other. His pale, thin lips were slightly parted, and I just wished that it would grow to become nothing less than a big blackhole, sucking me into the unknown for better part of infinity. I'd have liked that. I really would have.

He leaned in closer and soon enough, I found myself stupefied, clutched in the warm embrace of his skinny left arm. I rested my head on his shoulder.

I reverted my gaze to the dazzling stars, only to realize that he was my night sky.
