Chapter 1

I ran as fast as I could. The people behind me held guns, knives, pitchforks, everything.

They were starting to catch up to me until I ran into a small hole. They cursed loudly and ran off while I sat in, trying to catch my breath.

'I should be used to this. It's been 3 months of running from these horrid people.' I thought to myself.

I crawled out and changed into a human.

My clothes were very small and tight, but as least they covered up the right parts.

I'd snuck around; trying to find a store with hats or baggier pants but I couldn't.

I heard people yelling and it was getting closer by the second.

I started to sprint but was stopped by something pulling me into a dark alley way. I tried to scream but was muffled by the hand covering my mouth.

"Be quiet or I'll throw you out there so they can kill you." A low voice, making me immediately shut up.

The yelling faded off past us and he loosened his grip on me. As soon as he did I squirmed around. I didn't want to be in some weirdos grasp! He smelt like moldy cheese and freaked me out!

"Do you want to die? I'll slit your throat and sell your dead body to the people who want you." He said harshly as he pulled a pocket knife out.

"Please. I'm begging you. I just want to find somewhere safe." I sounded to pathetic: Begging a stranger for mercy.

"If you do what I damn say, maybe your ass wouldn't be on the brink of death." He pulled me up and put his knife in his pocket.

He handed me a large hoodie that went down to my knees.

"Put this on and don't act suspicious. If anyone asks anything, go along with what I say. Okay?" He asked as he helped me put it on over my clothes.

I didn't say anything.

"I said, Okay?" He had pulled me into him and repeated it angrily.

I nodded my head rapidly as we walked out of the alley way.

He grabbed my wrist and held it tightly.

'Why am I letting this guy just take control over me? I should stand up for myself!'

A few people walked passed us, a few giving us weird looks.

"Do not stare at anyone." He'd demanded quietly.

He must've noticed me looking at some people.

It's not my fault! I've never had a decent family so why can't I dream and think of what it would be like?

We approached an apartment building.

He led the way into it, stopping at an elevator.

He pressed a button and pulled me into it. I looked over at him to see if had any emotion. Surprisingly, he had a worried look on his face.

I was about to ask if he was okay but we got to a certain floor and he pulled me to a door.

He unlocked it and pushed me inside.

"You will stay here and only leave if it's with me. If I find out you have left, I will find you and you will be killed. Understood?"

I'd nodded and stood in the middle of the room awkwardly.

"You can sit down." He said while he walked into the kitchen.

I sat down and tapped my foot on the floor from nervousness. I was NOT supposed to be in this situation! This was just weird. He's angry at one minute, then worried the next!

He walked back into the room and knelt in front of me.

"So, what's your name?"

"I don't have one.." I mumbled.

"You don't have one?"

"You heard what I said!" I raised my voice a bit, regretting I did as soon as I did.

"You. Do. Not. Raise your voice. At me." He got up and moved towards me, slamming his hands by the sides of my head.

"You disrespect me one more time, you head with be on display." He said and flicked my forehead.

I flinched and stayed quiet.

How the hell am I supposed to get used to this?
