"DRINK IT WHOLE!" My friends roared as I shook the glass of Tequila around in my hand, pondering on if I should risk total humiliation, to make my friends proud. I hesitantly hauled the glass, so it was now hovering by my lips. I look at Amanda who gives me a reassuring nod before jolting down the burning liquid into my mouth. I feel the texture ripping at my tongue, begging to be swallowed. Its as if the Gods of Wisdom themselves peer pressure me into swallowing the corrosive substance. I obey them and wait patiently for the sensation to vanish.
Screaming, I slam the glass onto the table, it echoes throughout the club making the crowd cheer more. This only makes a smile etch its way onto my face. A new feeling builds up inside of me and hunger of popularity consumes my mind, forcing me to buy another drink.
It doesn't take long for the depressant to have full control over my system and I dance until I'm physically unable to. After hours of party I walk up to Amanda. "I'm going to- er, walk, or fly outside okay, don't leave me." I blurt as i rush outside.
I imminently sigh as the cold air hits my body, the wind gently blowing in my face. I spot a bench and walk over, bending down to take a seat.
"Mind if I join?" A soft voice whispers from the side. I squint one eye open and my jaw falls ajar.
Standing in front of me is the most gorgeous male I have ever seen in my entire life and let me tell you this- I've seen a lot. I stare; gobsmacked at the beautiful specimen of a human, before slowly nodding. He smiles and sits down, I become stiff on how close he is to me.
"Is the party getting to much to handle?" He asks. I nod in return, making him chuckle. "I take if you're not much a drinker?" He mutters. "Why so?" I ask, quirking up an eyebrow. "No offence, but when I see a girl almost fall three times on her way out... it gives me the impression she's a light weight." He informs. I got to deny what he's said but no words come out, "touché." I scoff before standing up.
"And where are you going in that state?" He asks solemnly and I look at the man whom I've just met. With a slight shrug of the shoulders, I begin to walk away. And I don't know if it was my instinct or the alcohol but I felt a little breeze and there he was again by my side.
The moon shines against his porcelain skin, making it a beautiful contrast with the orange street lamps lighting up the road. In my eyes, something never looked so beautiful.
I take a quick look over at him and he's already looking at me, a small smile on his face. "What?" I ask quietly and he looks away. I still don't know his name.
"Hey I never got your name," his voice is much different this time, much softer. As if I'm a fragile baby that needs caring for. "My name is Evelyn," I murmur, my sober state coming back through. Is it him? Is it him that's making me not feel as drunk?
"A pretty name for a pretty face," he smirks.
"A jerky comment for a jerky guy," I retort and spin around, facing him. "Look, if you're just going to harass me-"
"Who said I'm harassing? I'm simply helping you on your way home," he explains. That sounds better. "Anyway," I roll my eyes. "What's your name?"
"Xavier,"
And before then, I didn't think I'd use it again. But I was seriously mistaken.
