The year was 1842. On the 20th of September, a grand party was held to celebrate the birthday of the Oleander's only son. The party was in in full swing, the musicians played an elegant tune, the ladies gossiped in the corner while the gentleman talked together in the other. The young boys each had a pretty lady by the hand, and they danced, both gliding gracefully crossed the floor. Up watching from the overhead hallway sat one boy, Oleander's son himself. He had no interest in going down with the ladies and gents. To him, parties were a bore. They made his hands shake and his head spin. He had his eye set on his closest friend, who was like himself, sitting alone. Young Richard Oleander stood up and made his way down the stairway, he held firmly onto the railing. He slowly crossed into the ballroom. Everyone stopped to admire the newly 17 year old, Richard grew tense, and walked a bit more stiffly as eyes lay watching. The boy made his way over to his friend, sitting down next to him in a sigh of relief.
"That anxiety has you in a tizzy, ay Richie?" Richard's friend spoke up poking his friend's slouched shoulder.
"Aye, it does. But just sitting down next to you makes me feel a bit better. Thanks Benny."
"Any time lad." Benjamin Remington said, both chuckling. Soon the music dimmed down to more of a quiet waltz. The dancers soon quieted down, and danced more eloquently, gliding ever so smoothly crossed the marble floor. Richard looked his friend in the eyes and said,
"Dance with me, will you?" He nervously played with his curly hair.
"O-of course Richard." Benjamin replied, rising to his feet. They both made their way to the dance floor. Richards face grew red as he held out his hand. Benjamin took his shaking palm and they both began to waltz. All the dancers stopped to watch this odd spectacle. The woman in the corner began to whisper, their eyes filled with shock. The gentleman quietly chatted, a look of disgust was on their faces. Suddenly, the music stopped and the room grew still. A voice rang through the ballroom, it boomed and ran through the two's ears.
"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!"
