It was Harry Potter's seventh year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He sat alone near the fireplace at Slytherin common room, as he was skipping class yet again. It was quite boring in there, so Harry took out his invisibility cloak and left the common room. A first year Ravenclaw, Dreven Hiever, was walking down the corridor. Harry grinned and decided to have a bit of "fun" with the first year. He shot out a burst of purple light from his wand. That caught the attention of little Dreven, who walked over to the light. Harry kept doing this, leading the boy to an abandoned bathroom.
"Wingardium Leviosa" Harry muttered. The First year began to float to the high up windowsill. Hiever was frightened. Then, Harry remembered a spell that was written down in the old copy of the potions book he owned.
"Sectumsempra" Harry whispered as the Ravenclaw fell from the windowsill, covered in blood-oozing gashes. He watched the first year struggle in pain and then lay perfectly still. Woah, Harry thought, as he felt a slight tinge of satisfaction. He heard footsteps coming to the bathroom, supposedly wanting to see where the screaming was coming from. Harry quickly pulled over his cloak and fled back to the common room.
Word had spread quickly of the first year Ravenclaw that had been found dead in the bathroom, covered in blood and bruises. For some odd reason, Harry had felt no guilt, only the hunger for more. He figured that the screaming of victims could give him away, so he needed another spell. A better one. One with an instant kill. The answer was pretty obvious. I have to use Avada Kedavra. It's the best way. Harry thought. But he had learned in his fourth year that this spell could land him in Azkaban. Well you can't be sent to Azkaban if you're not caught. Harry thought once more. He already had the invisibility cloak, so it couldn't be that hard.
Later that night Harry escaped the common room once more. His Marauder's Map told him where the entrance to each dormitory was, and how to get in. Hufflepuff was the least of the houses, he thought, so he began to make his way there. Down into the basement, and near the kitchen there should be a stack of barrels. Behind them is the entrance to the Hufflepuff dormitory. Harry followed the directions on the map. He approached the barrels quietly, wand in hand. He checked to make sure that the invisibility cloak fully covered him. The map showed a warning sign and read "The barrels are to be tapped in the correct order. If not, the outcome won't be pleasant. Order: right, left, top, top, right."
Harry tapped the barrels with his wand and the barrels parted to reveal the Hufflepuff common room. He didn't take much note of the scenery, but only went straight up to the boys dormitory. Straight away, Harry saw the no-good Cedric Diggory, who was always so proud of himself. He stepped carefully, not to knock over anything, and peeked his wand out of the cloak. One try. Make it good.
"Avada Kedavra!" a bright green jet bursted out and hit Diggory. Some of the other boys woke up, startled. Harry ran.
Dumbledore rose and stepped up to his owl podium.
"Due to recent events, all students are to place their wand in the bin that will be in your dormitory tonight for checking-" McGonagall cut him off.
"Albus, how do we know if it's a student?" She whispered.
"No one can come inside or out of Hogwarts boundaries without permission, and I am positive that it wasn't a teacher. I've already checked their wands." Dumbledore whispered back with a nod.
Harry spent all afternoon making a wand identical to his, except it didn't do anything. He even used the last bit of his broom polisher to sell the idea. He cleaned up the wood shavings, and hid his real wand under his mattress. Harry walked back into the common room. Snape strided in with a large wooden box.
