I slammed my locker shut in annoyance as I looked over to Kara.

"I can't believe you. I'm not doing it."

"C'mon. It's simple. You already chickened out on your last three dares. You gotta do this one."

"Yeah, Emma. Kara's right," said Charlotte, my other best friend, as she walked up to us, instantly knowing what we were talking about.

"No!" I reply a little more harshly this time. "It's not going to work anyway," I continue.

"You never know... Fate has a way of making things work out," Kara said with a smile.

"Besides, he could be your soulmate, and you'd never know 'cause you were too chicken," Charlotte stated. Kara started making chicken noises, gaining the attention of the students around us, including the person that this conversation was about. I quickly lifted my hood over my head and turned around, facing the lockers.

"It's simple. You just have to tell him your lovely pickup lines. To make this even better, I'll throw in five bucks. Deal?"

"You know what? Fine. Since you guys won't leave me alone. I'll do it, but you owe me that promised money." I pull my hood down and gather my very, very little courage up. And when I say little, I mean like the size of Kara. She's less than five feet tall.

"Okay, okay, let's do this," I whisper to myself. I must've been standing there for a while because Charlotte gave a shove towards him. I take small steps to reach him.

"Hey, Dennis.... Can I talk to you?"

"Do I know you?"

"Ha...ha... no...." I awkwardly mumbled. He gave me a weird look before nodding his head. He gave his friends, who were watching in amusement, a look before walking away with me trailing behind him. As we reached a quiet area of the school, he turned around to face me. I had to tilt my head up to look at his face directly. He's hot.

"Are you a magician? Because whenever I look at you, everyone else disappears!"

"Uh.. wha-"

"I'm not a photographer, but I can picture me and you together."

"What are you doing?"

"Are you an interior decorator? Because when I saw you, the entire room became beautiful."

I saw his lip twitch upwards before continuing on.
"Are you religious? Because you're the answer to all my prayers."

He let a small chuckle out as I said that one.

"I don't really understand what's going on here, but I don't regret talking to you. See you 'round." And what that one sentence, I started noticing him more and more in my life.
