Before I tell you this, there's something important that you need to know.
This is the complete, unedited truth.
Written by moi, and I was there.
Believe me, it was not an experience you would have enjoyed.
It is also the reason why I have a thin white scar running from the left side of my forehead, cleanly through my eyebrow, just missing my eye and continuing all the way down to my chin.
It is the reason that many people close to me are gone. They perished and I did not have the skills nor timing to save them.
This has become the deepest, saddest regret of my life and this story is dedicated to those who lost their lives defending loved ones or even complete strangers. No matter what your story is or how it came about, you are a hero.
You should know, before reading on, that we were only kids. And that this has affected the way we value life in both positive and negative ways.
For me, it opened a new inspiration, a hidden talent unleashed that led to a career in medicine.
For others, it has led to depression or anxiety, the aftershock ebbing away at their life, leaving them shell shocked and confused.
We were all affected in a different way, whether we were infected or not.
But this virus did not happen in a big city, or even a well known town.
It happened in a small town on the south coast of England. Where the biggest event of the year is the mayor turning on the Christmas lights or the fundraiser for the local schools.
Where no one becomes anything or anyone, just a town full of nobodies really.
But karma chose to strike our town, of all places, it wasn't like anyone that you want was there. It just happened.
And that is what you'll hear the government call a code z.
