A month went by and i continued on with with my normal schedule. Justyn sat next to me every day at school, and we became really close friends. Right now we are in english class and I see a weird packet in Justyn's binder. It has a weird symbol I have never seen before on it. After class Justyn pulled me to the side of the hallway and had a weird look on his face. He was still hot though. All the popular kids were staring at us and some of the girls were whispering, probably thinking 'why is the hottest, most popular guy in school talking to that poor low life', and I knew they were saying that too. Justyn took my hand and looked me in the eye.
"Will you go out with me?" he asked.
WAIT!! WHAT?! The hottest guy in the whole school had just asked me out?! Was I dreaming? Was this really happening?! It was... I looked around and lots of the single senior girls looked pissed.
"Yea..?" I asked questioningly.
I didn't know if I chose the right thing or the wrong thing, but all I knew is that Justyn was my first boyfriend.
I never had a boyfriend before so I didn't really know what to expect. But I knew for a fact that this could end badly since he was popular and I'm just a "low-life". Justyn grabbed my hand and a warm tingly feeling shot up my arm. He looked at me and smiled, like he felt it too! We headed to our next class together, we spoke spanish to each other so that we didn't get yelled at by our teacher. It seemed that we never ran out of things to talk about. We hadn't even started talking about our personal lives yet. Before I knew it, the day was over and I had Justyn walk me to my locker. I saw Andy and gave him a hug. That kind of bugged Justyn.. Oops.
"Andy, this is my boyfriend" I said with a huge smile "he just asked me out".
"Ummmmm...Ok?" Andy replied.
"Justyn, this is Andy. We have been best friends since before we were even born".
"Nice to meet you Andy." Justyn said while sticking his hand out for a handshake.
"Hi." Andy replied while ignoring his hand gesture. Justyn put his hand in his pocket after being denied.
Andy was being a jerk and I don't know why. I will never forget his facial expression. Like, what was up with him? Why couldn't he just be nice to my first boyfriend?!
Andy looked shocked, like he was scared for me or something. I dunno. Justyn took my hand and turned me so I was facing him.
"May I drive you home?" Justyn asked.
"Um yea. Can we drive Andy also?"
"I only have a two seat convertible".
"Oh, umm... Well I don't want to ditch Andy." which was true, but I still really wanted to go with him. But I decided I would like to keep my friendship with Andy.
"Its ok. Can I walk you home? Or can I go over to your house later?" Justyn asked.
Crap... My house! Would he break up with me if I knew I lived in a shoe box?
"Umm... Well my sisters..."
"...Yeah, you should go over! She would love to have you at her house." Andy interrupted.
"Nikki, is it ok if I do?" Justyn asked.
I really wanted to say no. "Sure" i said. Curse his gorgeous eyes! Crap, I get a boyfriend and he is going to break up with me because of my house.
"Cool, I'll walk with you guys, I'll have my brothers girlfriend drive my car to my house."
"Ok" I replied.
Was I making a mistake? I probably was... We walked out of the school and down the sidewalk. After a while, we started walking into the poor part of town, and Justyn kept talking normally like he didn't even notice where we were. Andy wasn't talking, he was just kicking a rock. Bum... After about forty five minutes of walking, we finally reached my house and Andy didn't even say goodbye. What was his problem, he was being very rude.
I opened the door to my house and my little sister ran up to me and jumped into my arms like she always does.
"Nik? Who is that?" I heard Sarah ask.
"Hey sarah. Um. This is Justyn, he's my boyfriend."
"Boyfriend?" she asked like she didn't know what that was.
"Yes. He asked me out this morning"
"Oh, ok." she seemed kinda bored.
"Nice to meet you guys, as she said. I'm Justyn. You're Sarah?"
"Yep!"
"And who might this little princess be?"
Justyn leaned over and tried to look Amy in the face, who was still in my arms.
"Amy" She replied after a somewhat awkward silence.
"Well, its nice to meet you Amy" Justyn said.
Justyn had a way with kids, and I liked it because I knew I could trust him with my sisters.
"Amy, why don't you and Sarah go play while I get dinner ready."
Amy ran off and I got a weird look from Justyn, great. He's going to break up with me.
"You make dinner?" he asked.
What? He hasn't dumped me yet. What is going on! If he doesn't break up with me today he will tomorrow. So I am just going along with it.
"um, yeah." I said, kind of shocked.
"Does your mom cook? Or are you just a better cook than she is?"
"Um, well, my mom is never home. She lives with a friend downtown for work and sends us money every week for food and new clothes and stuff."
I started to get sad and miss my mom a whole lot.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know." he seemed hurt to see me sad. God he was sweet. Usually popular guys are all mean. But he was really nice.
Next thing I know, Justyn is putting the food that I took out back into the fridge and drawers or the cupboards.
"What are you doing?" I asked confused.
I couldn't help but laugh when he couldn't find the spice drawer.
"Get your sisters ready to go out... And uh, where does this go?"
Justyn's face got all red. He is so adorable
I walked away but grabbed the cinnamon out of his hand and put it in the drawer right next to his thigh. He looked confused, as if he already opened that drawer. I walked into the basement to find my sisters playing with my old Barbie dolls that I had given them a long time ago. I told them to go put their shoes on and wait outside. And they did just that. I love my sisters so much. And I know the love me back.
I walked with Justyn and saw my sisters running after each other. "Girls!" I yelled. I didn't want them to get dirty before we got back home. I wasn't sure where we were going, and Justyn wouldn't tell me, he kept saying "It's a surprise". We were walking because Justyn didn't have his car. We were walking for two hours I believe, and Justyn and I didn't stop talking. We talked in German though. Before I realized where we were, Justyn said "Close your eyes", and I did.
