"Cherry let me drive you home you're drunk."
"I can drive Rachel and I'm not drunk. Is Max coming?"
"No he's not you two need space to breathe,"Rachel said laughing.
The car started shortly and Cherry was driving carefully on the road obviously she wasn't drunk. As she got to the highway a truck without brakes, carrying goods had run out of them.
"Rachel, what should I do? The car is coming at us",Cherry exclaimed.
"Cherry bend .....!"
The truck had already smashed the car and the two girls had blacked out.

"She isn't home yet and hasn't called either so unlike her,"Mrs. Roberts said as she checked her phone.
"No calls yet!"
Just then her phone rang
"Yes it's Mrs. Roberts.....what do you mean.... I'll be there right away."
The trinity hospital was not far from the house it was a walkable distance but she still preferred to drive as it was late already. On reaching the hospital she went straight to the attendant.
"Cherry Roberts please?"
"Oh ma'am she had a fatal accident and she'll undergo surgery tomorrow and she's in coma now you can she her if you want to"
"What are you taking about."She said. Hot tears began to flow from her eyes down to her cheeks.
"She's all I have,"she screamed and ran off to look for her.
"She's in ward 5C,"the attendant shouted.
"What happened to you,"she said looking at Cherry's body. She had scars all over her face. Her legs seemed to be okay but her face was just too bad. Max walked into the ward room.
"What the hell happened!"
"What the hell happened? Where the hell were you!!!!"she shouted back.
"I didn't follow her, I stayed back at James place. I was meant to spend the night there."
"And why couldn't she stay with you?"
"She said she wanted to go home so she went with Rachel and she's just fine they gave her a few pills."
"And it's my daughter,the only one that I have that got hurt!" Mrs. Roberts began to cry, the last time she cried was when her husband to be died. Yes she wasn't married to anyone. She was pregnant as they planned for the wedding. Max hugged her tight and she stopped crying a bit.
"I won't leave her Mrs. Roberts, no matter what," Max said meaning every word he said.
The next day was a very sad day the sun wasn't bright and the sky wasn't beautiful at all. Cherry's mom Katyln didn't go home Max neither and Rachel hadn't come to see Cherry since she got discharged. The surgery started immediately it was 8am so many doctors rushed into the room and it made Katyln panic a lot although Max was there to comfort her every time.

"Rachel you're just lucky you weren't really hurt that much,"Ronnie said.
"Yeah, I am."
"Poor Cherry do you think Max would dump her?"
"I don't know but I totally next on the line. If this opportunity will give me Max why wouldn't I take it?"
"Atta girl!"

The surgery was concluded four hours later and the doctors had signaled to Katyln that she can go and see her. She jogged up to one of the doctors to ask how she was because she scared of what she would see.
"Mrs. Roberts,"the doctor said," she's fine but she's blind and it's permanent"
Katyln screamed she couldn't just hear the news it pierced real deep into her heart.
Max had gone to see already not knowing about the issue of her being blind.
"How are you feeling my love?" He asked with the sweetest voice he could possibly have.
"Weak,tired, I just want to go home. When do I get to remove this off my face, I want to see you."
"I don't know yet dear but soon."
"How is Rachel? Where is she?"
"She's okay and at home I guess"
"Did she come to see me?"
"No, not yet I guess."
Katyln came into the room she couldn't let Cherry know about it not yet not no that she's happy about being whole and well again. She called Max to the corner and told him since either way he deserved to know. He excused himself after she told him he couldn't react in front of Cherry she had suffered enough so he thought.
"I brought pizza"
"Mom! I missed you"
"I missed you too"
"I really wanted to come home on time mom but....."
"Cherry, it's okay alright. Now eat,let me feed you"
"When does my bandage come off?"
"I don't know yet but soon."
"How come Rachel hasn't come to see me?"
"I don't know dear. May be she's still recovering or something."
Max had left the hospital to a café to drink coffee and as he was about to sit he saw Rachel smiling and laughing with her other friends. He couldn't believe she was here and Cherry was there she didn't bother to see her. He just had to confront her for being to so heartless to someone who she called her friend.
"What are you doing here Rachel?"
"What are you doing here?"
"You haven't gone to see Cherry and why is that?"
"Oh Cherry my bad. I don't owe her any obligations do I girls?"
"Rachel....!"
"Forget it Max! We could be a cute couple, forget about Cherry and we'll get married and live happily together. Think about it."
"My happiness is with her Cherry no matter what."
"We'll see about that. I'll be laughing when you come crawling to my sexy body and you'll leave her if she's crippled"
"I won't leave Cherry even if she's crippled," he said and left back to the hospital.
By the time he got back to the hospital they had already finished removing her bandage.
"Mom why is everything still dark and I can't feel the bandage anymore?"
"Miss Cherry..... you're permanently blind!"
"What do you mean?"
"You won't be able to see for he rest of your life. I'm sorry."
"What did you do to me?" She asked crying and her mom came to hug her.
"I and Max will always be here"
"Always," Max said kissing her forehead.
