If my mother were Aphrodite maybe I would love the skin assigned to me at birth.
Maybe I would see the curves as handcrafted mountains made from years of hard labor and precious thought rather than piles of rubble left by the war on my own image.
If my mother were Athena maybe I would stand up for what I believed in.
Maybe I would see merit in what I have to say rather than the flaws and holes in every argument.
If my mother were Hel maybe I would know that I don't always have to stay silent.
Maybe I would be able to say no, to not agree with what I don’t want to do rather than always saying yes.
If my mother were Hera maybe I would know that I am not a failure.
Maybe I would understand that differences are not weakness rather than only making things negative.
If my mother were a goddess, maybe I would know,
That I am one too.
