"Y/N! We're so proud of you!" Your mother gushed from the passenger seat, smiling brightly back at you. You couldn't help but smile back.

"Mom, I barely landed half my spins." You countered. Your cheeks heated up when you heard your dad chuckling.

"Y/N, honey you did better than most of the kids there and they're college students." He said. You laughed and rolled your eyes before leaning against your hand and looking out the window.

"Dad, I'm a senior in high school, we're only two or three years apart."

Your mom started to once again go on about how you were a wonderful dancer but you were already gone, admiring the stars in the sky as the car moved along. You sighed and leaned further into your hand, a content smile on your face as you stared at the scenery. Even when you were little you always admired the stars in the sky almost as much as you had admired dancing. When you were about three, you had taken up ballet and ever since then you loved every minute of it. Now that you were in a senior high school, you even had the chance to help assist some ballet instructors. Sure, you had taken a few other classes just to spice things up such as jazz, hip hop and even flamenco. But ballet always held a special place in your heart. While you loved dancing, your love of music was just as great. In fact, as soon as you graduated from high school, you had a scholarship waiting for you so you could pursue your dreams of becoming an entertainer. You were pulled out of your thoughts by the sounds of a drum thumping.

"Wow, they sure are rowdy today, huh (M/N)? (*Mom's Name*)"

"I don't think that's the right word. I think a better word would be 'lively'. I think it's wonderful having these monsters on the surface." Your mother responded, looking out the window at a group of monsters and humans all gathered together on the sidewalk, dancing with music blaring out of their speakers as you all stopped at the stoplight. You could only smile and tap your foot to the beat, wishing you were out there with them.

"Yeah..." You said in a hushed voice, admiring the way these monsters moved. There were snow looking monsters, dog looking monsters, and even a few who didn't really seem to resemble anything. You had to hold back a snort when you saw a mermaid-horse looking monster flexing at the others. There was a little ghost monster who seemed to be dj-ing the entire event who was bobbing his head to the beat. There were other monsters around him, standing on a makeshift platform. You couldn't help but roll the window down and cheer.

"I love the music!" You called out, making the little ghost jump slightly before looking at you and giving you a small smile. The other monsters turned for a moment and cheered before there was a gasp and frantic shouting had begun. Some were running away and you heard your father shout some form of curse as he tried to turn to the side of the road.

"W-Wait! Watch ou-" The ghosts meek voice was cut off by the sound of something smashing into the side of the car you were in. Screams of surprise came from you and your family as the car toppled over and rammed up into the side of the neighboring building. You could feel your head slam against the side of the door before everything went black.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your head was throbbing as you slowly came to your senses. All you could remember was the look of horror on that poor little ghosts face before the car toppled over. You kept your eyes shut and sat still, listening to your surroundings. You could hear the faint beat of a heart monitor pulsing steadily and the sounds of nurses scurrying around the halls, getting to and from their patients. A throb of pain flashed down your leg and you gasped before letting out a groan as the gasp started a dull throbbing in your lungs.
"Oh goodness, you're awake!" A calm voice said from to your left. You tried to turn to face the voice but a hand placed itself on your shoulder.
"Shh, you don't want to move too much. You suffered quite a trauma." She said in a quiet voice. You let out a tiny nod and rested your head back against the pillow, flexing your fingers and toes as well as your eyebrows just to feel the satisfaction of moving again. You felt a cast wrapped around your leg and a bandage around your calf. Your arms were better off, but you still felt a splint on our left wrist. The most peculiar was the bandage wrapped around your eyes.
"What happened?" You asked, startled at how hoarse your voice sounded.
"You were hit by a truck, sweetheart. Locals said that your car had been stopped at a red light and a drunk driver swerved to the left and ran your vehicle into the side of the building," She explained in a calm voice, "You suffered quite a trauma. You've got concussion and your left fibula is broken as well as a large gash in your left thigh. You have a few fractured ribs and your left wrist was fractured as well. Are you feeling any pain right now? Is there anything you need?" She asked softly, gently patting your shoulder. You stiffened and moved your hand to grab her arm.
"W-What about my parents?" You whispered hoarsely, ignoring her questions. She let go of you and you heard shuffling beside you.
"You mother broke her right arm and rotated her hip as well as dislocated her shoulder and sprained her ankle. Your father on the other hand, has it pretty well. The angle of the impact seemed to affect him the least. He managed to scrape by with a minor concussion and some cuts and bruises." She replied, helping you to sit up and drink out of a cup which you soon learned was water. You felt a heavy weight lift off your shoulders when you heard that your parents would be alright.
"Was anybody else hurt?" You asked quietly, lying back down. You heard the nurse chuckle.
"Thankfully, nothing too bad. The worst was a young monster getting hit in the head by one of the tires that popped off the car. He's alright, thankfully but he'll have quite a bruise. He was just having a good time and it was bad enough he didn't have any arms, the poor little guy." She said, her voice filled with empathy. You heard the curtains pull open and a male voice followed.
"Is she awake?" He asked. The nurse moved to the other side of the room.
"Yes, and she's doing very well. She just woke up a few minutes ago." You heard your nurse reply. You heard a small sigh from the doctor.
"Thank you, Isabelle. Could you go check on her mother for me? I'm about to change the bandages." He said, coming closer, his shoes thumping softly against the tile.
"Yes, Doctor Forness." She responded before she left the room. His footsteps stopped right by the bed and you heard him sigh.
"I am deeply sorry." He said softly. You shook your head and sighed.
"Nah, it's fine." You responded. You heard him shuffle beide you.
"Didn't your nurse tell you about your eyes?" He asked. You shook your head and a wave of confusion crashed over you. My eyes? What happened to my eyes?
"Well, no..." You muttered, starting to get a bit nervous. The doctor started to remove the bandages from your eyes and you held your eyes shut out of reflex.
"There was a lot of debris that had to be removed from you eyes. Some managed to tear your retinas and our science isn't sound enough to be able to fix them." He explained. Your heart started pounding and you were filled with dread.
Oh god no...
"So I'm sorry to say that you have lost your vision." He finished, the bandages now off your eyes. You immediately opening your eyes and tried your best to look around.
Nothing.
All you saw was nothing.
You felt tears brim in the corners of your eyes and a small sobbed escaped your throat, your ribs aching at the movement. The doctor must've heard because he gently lied you down and reapplied the bandages.
"Don't open your eyes if you can help it.... Blind or not, they're still sensitive right now. Let them heal." He said, his tone a bit sad. You almost didn't hear him. Your mind was whirling with thoughts but only one stuck out above the rest.
How am I supposed to dance now?
