"I told you that wasn't a good idea!"
A brown haired girl whispered angrily to her companion.
"Shhh," her friend, a blonde haired boy, shooshed her whilst peeking over the large wooden crate that they were hiding behind. The girl only sighed and leant back against the other crates her hands covered in large splinters from the past hour that she and the boy spent crawling through the warehouse.

"They're gone," the boy sat back next to the girl with a sigh of relief his hands as splintered as hers.
"Well done Euan," she murmured sarcastically to the blonde boy before crossing her arms.
"Karl, stop complaining. At least we got away." Euan said looking around nervously as if they were being watched.

Karl only gave a slightly annoyed puff and stayed where she was picking out the splintets from her aching hands. Euan turned his attention back to her again and watched her observe her hands, reminding him of the same pricking pain he started doing the same. After a long moment of silence Karl said, "so what are we going to do now?" Euan shrugged, "i guess just somehow get away without being seen by the guards."

Another awkward silence fell between the two friends only to be broken when Karl gave a slight laugh, "That was fun," she said only making Euan laugh along with her breaking the sudden tension between them. That day the two friends decided to troll the two men that stood guarding the entrance to the warehouse, they hid up high in trees making hooting noises which then turned to something more.

They laughed so hard in the trees that the guards eventually noticed where those noises where coming from. With burning rage they shook the tree trying to reach at the two kids, though the men were clumsy and it didn't take much to out run them.

"Their faces, did you see their faces?" Euan said in between gulps of air trying to control his words from the laughter that was gathering in his chest. Karl only nodded whilst laughing uncontrollably holding her stomach from hurt. They soon calmed down and sat with eachother against the crate. "Do you think they'll still be searching for us?" Karl murmured. "I doubt that, they looked like they gave up, didn't even run further into the warehouse did they?" He said giving a smirk of laughter at how clumsy the guards really were, their big stomach bouncing as they ran after them only to give up a second later panting with exhaustion.

"Alright we need a plan to get out." Karl said standing up and looking around for a way out she slowely let her gaze glide to a window which was slightly ajar. "There." She said pointing to the window, Euan giving his nod of approval. They sneekily made their way to the window, it was just big enough for them to fit through but it was high up. "Karl grab that crate on one side, ill take the other." Euan said making his way to a big crate which they would carry and make a staircase leading up to the window. Karl did as Euan said and they both heaved the crate to the wall and went to grab another.

"Done." Euan said proudly looking at the perfectly made staircase leading out of the window. "Whose going first?" Karl asked looking up at the little window the air from the outside sending a soft gust of wind into her hair. "Am shorter I'll go," Euan said already climbing up the crates, he slid his fingers under the gap and lifted the window making a larger gap to get through, "perfect."

Euan got through the window in seconds and remained outside in a overgrown area which most likely hasn't been cared for for a long time. "Go Karl!" He shouted waiting by the wooden walls of the Warehouse. Great oaks shaded the place from the sun and fortunately covered the window from the public.

Karl sat in the sill of the window looking down at the decently low drop with a effortless gasp she landed on the ground gracefully and grinned at Euan. Crawling from between the trees they walked out into the open seeing the village for the first time after going into the warehouse. It was a warm day the suns fresh golden rays cast floods of sweat against the people struggling to sell their goods across the market on the side of the road.

With exhaustion Karl and Euan made their way across the market and reached a slightly more calm place away from the road and busy people. As soon as Euan spotted a tree he ran towards it knowing that after that tree there was another and another and another. The woods. Their favourite place since they were little kids, was the luscious green forest. Catching up Karl ran up to Euan they both ran deeper into the woods the birds chirping the day away, the flowers blooming at the start of spring.

Most of the days Karl and Euan would spend at the treehouse, which they made by themselves from a few spare pieces of planks they managed to steal from a unwatched market stall. It was high up and hard to notice that making it protected from the older kids who hanged about in the woods at times, attempting to cause trouble.

With unbelievable tiredness they lied down on the long planks of scrap wood of the treehouse staring up at the tree leaves the clear sky showing through a few gaps in the branches.
Today was a exhausting day
