Zack glances over at me. "How about you take a nap? It's still a bit of a drive anyway."
I nod, and close my eyes, sleep taking over quickly.
-
My eyes snap open to the sound of the trunk closing.
I sleepily look around, seeing that we're at the house. Zack has the last of the bags in his arm.
"You should of woken me up, I would've helped."
He shakes his head. "I got it, and anyway, you haven't been sleeping well lately, I didn't wanna wake you up."
I climbed out, shutting the door. I wrapped my coat around myself tighter.
"You've noticed?"
"Of course I've noticed." He says, opening the door.
I sigh. "I don't know. Just a lot of nightmares I guess."
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He sets the bags down.
"I'd rather just decorate." I tried to sound more bright and happy. I've really been trying lately.
He looks hesitant, but nods. "Alright."
I start looking through the bags. A lot of the stuff was for Milo's room, some for the kitchen, and the bathroom, then random things for around the house.
I grabbed a box that was on the floor, and kneeled down, packing clothes into it.
Zack places some more boxes down for me, which I put toys, and random things into.
Since we don't have storage space yet, this has to do for now.
I shut the boxes, and Zack grabs them, taking them upstairs. He makes a second round for the crib, and another box.
I sit down completely, and start going through the rest of the bags. I divide them into multiple piles for the different rooms.
Tomorrow, if it hasn't snowed, we'll be moving stuff from the apartment.
We already have everything else set up, like water, heat and air conditioning, electric.
Zack had security systems set up a while ago, and we just got wifi today, which I'm excited about.
I hear him coming back down the stairs.
"Alright. Where do you wanna start?"
"Ummm, kitchen." I say, starting to stand up.
Zack helps me the rest of the way, and puts the kitchen stuff into bags to carry it over.
We got storage stuff, and silverware, dishes, cups, pots and pans, and utensils.
I start opening up cabinets, and drawers, and placing stuff where it needed to go.
Decorating and organizing are two of my favorite things. I don't know why. I just love it.
I also enjoy cleaning.
Before I know it, we're done with the kitchen, and moving on to the living room. We didn't have much, mostly decorations.
There was a couch in here. It was a bit old, and it had a couple rips in it, but it was better than nothing.
It was a little present from Mark.
An older couch that had been sitting in their basement. He cleaned it up, and gave it to us as a housewarming gift.
Zack was gonna take it to the basement for his instrument room once the others got here.
There were some throw pillows on it that we just got, and a blanket.
I stretched up to finish hanging the poster.
It was a shot I had taken from Anna's band.
I smile, glancing around the picture. I love them.
"How about we do Milo's room now?" I ask.
Zack nods, and one of the boxes that goes to our room.
I take a look around while we go up the stairs.
It's coming together. Slowly, but it is.
We make our way to Milo's room, and I push open the door.
The room is filled with boxes, for the most part. Some bags too.
"Crib first?" Zack asks.
I nod, and kneel down next to the box.
I start to lift it, before he stops me.
"It's really heavy, let me do it. Please."
I let go, and he grabs it. He lifts it up, and opens it, dumping the contents onto the ground.
I'm not really one for reading directions, but I grab them anyway.
I don't want to do something wrong.
Reading through the instructions carefully, Zack and I build the crib.
Once we finish, he pushes it around the room until I'm pleased.
It has to be perfect, okay?
I'm happy with it by the door at last, and I stand up.
I grab the little bag of mattress covers that I have, and place it in there for now.
There's not much else to do until we can storage space for the room, so we keep the clothes, and other things inside the boxes.
There's a toybox in here though, a present from Cass and Rian.
I place the toys we got today inside, and shut the lid.
We go about the rest of our day, putting things away, and moving things around until it starts getting dark out.
"We should probably head back to the apartment." Zack speaks up from the end of the couch.
I'm laying on it, wrapped up in the blanket, and on my phone.
I sigh sadly. I know he's right, but I just don't wanna leave.
"Hey, if it's nice out tomorrow, we'll move the stuff from the apartment, and we can start staying here. That's really the only things we need, besides food." He says, standing up and motioning for me.
"Okayyy." I grab my coat, and slip into my shoes.
We step out, and lock up the door, before he brings me into his arms.
Zack kisses me softly, before we head to the car.
We're starting a life together, I think to myself.
It's just crazy, how fast things can change.
