"Close your eyes." He said calmly. My breathing hitched as I closed my eyes.
"In front of you.. is standing a creature.. black stuff running from it's mouth." He chuckled lightly. Softly. Quietly. "Remember, you thought that was disgusting?" I grinned a bit, remembering the first time we saw them in the television. When everything wasn't so serious. When all of this was just far away, in another country, locked up in a lab. When all of it was just a fun experiment that we thought could be undone.
"Yeah.." I lightly bit my lower lip, and then parted them a little when I exhaled.
"The creatures eyes are dead, blank.. no life left in them." My hands felt warm as he spoke. I half opened my eyes to see what it was. I saw that my gun was pointed to his head.
"Seér- no-," I tried taking my hands back down, but his hands were locked around mine and he held my hands up. "I'm not gonna shoot you-!"
"Shh, Siéra, it's okay-" he put one hand on the side of my head.
"It's not- it's not okay!" My voice cracked, but I closed my eyes again when I felt his hand on my cheek.
".. you know it is.. just listen to me okay?" He dried a tear off my cheek, that I never realized was there. I nodded my head slowly.
"That's a good girl." I imagined the smile that he would have on his face.. I couldn't open my eyes.
"Now, this creature had it's head cracked open and you can see right into the brain, it's really disgusting and all that." I couldn't help but giggle a bit because of the way he said and described it.
"The nose is busted too. It's cut halfway and bleeding." I nodded as he kept describing the monster. "The hair is thin, greasy and a little bloody from the gigantic hole in it's head." I felt a little pressure on my finger, it was pushed, it ran over the metal on the gun, smooth and a little cold.
"The skin is pale, dirty and also bloody." He kept speaking as my finger reached the trigger. A monster?- "Siéra?"
"Yeah..?" I feel so calm, like nothing is bad in the world.
"Who is standing in front of you?" My finger put a bit pressure on the trigger. But it's okay, I'm not shooting anyone.
"Who.. who is standing in front of me...?" I swallowed and exhaled deeply, just listening to his voice.
"What.. What is standing in front of you?" His voice became kind of strained. Something is wrong. What is standing in front of me? .. it's one of them, one of the monsters.
"It's one of them.. a monster" I put more pressure on the trigger.
"So open your eyes." He snapped a bit for air. I did as he said and opened my eyes, to see exactly the monster he described. The pale skin, the wound in the head, the greasy, disgusting hair... the eyes though...
"Shoot." I heard it like from a distance. It was his voice. He is far away, if I pull the trigger I'll only kill the monster. Not him.
Something is up with it's eyes! Ugh! Why don't I know what it is?! I put more pressure on the trigger, irritated that the creature was so difficult to understand. If I move my finger an inch now..
"Pull the trigger." Like a whisper in my ear. I blinked and when I opened my eyes again I saw Seér, the mouth of my gun against his forehead, his thumb was on my finger that was on the trigger.
"Seér-..?!" He smiled at me one last time, before he pushed my finger with his thumb.
Pulled the trigger.
I didn't hear the gunshot.
I only saw the light in his eyes go out. The blood that ran down his face like a waterfall, from the wound where the bullet had met his forehead. He fell down on his back. He was looking at me. I shivered.
I've been up against monster.. zombie like creatures.. but they never scared the way I felt scared right now. It was not because he glared at me.

The eyes.

The eyes.

It was the same as the ones I had seen on the creature when he asked me to open my eyes.

I knew it was him all along.
So why did I pull the trigger...?

I just stared at his scary, lifeless eyes. They suddenly became distant.
Everything went black.
