'Body like a backroad, driving with my eyes closed, I know every curve like the back of my hand...'
I awoke to the gentle song playing from my phone. I quickly sat up and turned it off, looking over to make sure I didn't wake...Derek?...Darren?...Donnie? I couldn't remember. There, whatever his name was, lay snoring away. What a night! Too much liquor. I quietly climbed out of this stranger's bed and began rushing around to grab my dress from the previous night. I quickly slipped it on, grabbed my purse and phone and hurried out of the obvious bachelor pad, and jumped into my truck. Lighting a cigarette I quickly sped off to my tiny apartment to shower, change, grab the last of my stuff and take off for good.
"Hello?" I answered my phone as I jumped out of the shower and quickly wrapped a towel around myself.
"Hey Maddie!" Sam replied. "Just wondering when you will be heading out here? I can't wait to see ya."
"Awe thanks babes! I can't wait to see you either. I'm just going to get dressed and head out. I'll be getting there in 28 hours if I don't stop except for gas." I replied as I dug through my already packed bags for clothes.
"Awesome. I'll see you when you get here. Call if you need anything. Safe drive."
"Thanks Sam and thanks again for taking me in. See ya." I hung up my phone and changed into my clothes. I decided on short denim shorts and a black tank top. I quickly brushed out my long brown hair and through my black 'Barbie' hat on backwards and with that, I was hauling my bags to my truck and that was it. I took one last look at my home before taking off on my long journey. Nothing but my beats and the open road from here on out.
After what seemed like years of driving I pulled into Bon Temps Louisiana. It actually was a lot more beautiful then I thought. I quickly checked my gps and pulled around the bend to Sam's bar, Merlotte's. There were plenty of vehicles that lead me to believe this was the best place in town. Sam talked highly of it through our texts and emails. He was very proud, as he should be. I turned the ignition off and jumped out. I quickly fixed myself before walking in. At first glance I noticed a blonde and red headed waitresses running around serving people they're food and drinks. It was pretty busy in here.
"Welcome to Merlotte's!" The blonde said as she walked up looking down at her note pad. "Can I get you a table?" She stopped when she looked up at me. Her pupils dialated and she smiles. "Wow, you really are something beautiful if you don't mind me saying." She said with a smile.
"Why thank you Hun." I said returning a smile. "I'm Maddison." I extended my hand.
"Sookie." She said shaking it. "Oh you must be the Maddison Sam was talking about."
"Yes I am. Is he around?"
"Of course. Follow me to his office." She answered turning on her heel and heading to the back. I followed behind noticing a lot of heads were turning towards me. I smiled at everyone as we passed. I think I'm going to like it here. Soon Sookie opened a door and I saw Sam sitting at his desk counting money.
"Look at you hard at work." I teased causing Sam's head to shoot up. He smiled at me and stood up.
"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes." He said as he pulled me into a hug.
"I could say the same." I said pulling away and looking at him. "You look amazing!"
"Well I try. So what do you wanna do? Put your stuff away? Have some food?"
"Well I am starving." I said rubbing my stomach.
"Great. Sookie, take good care of this one. Anything she wants on the house." Sam said turning to Sookie.
