Darkness. Thats all she could see. Death. Thats all she could smell. The cries of pains. That was all she could hear. She couldn't open her eyes. She couldn't trap the sounds out. She couldn't move or scream. She was trapped in a void of complete insanity. But why? How did she end up here? One minute she was at home reading a book, listening to soft music in her ears, then the next she was gone. Gone to a whole new place. Earth? It didn't feel like it. Another planet? It didn't feel like that either. It felt paranormal. Or unreal. If only she could open her eyes. If only she could see where she was. See an exit to escape the death around her. "1, 2, 3..." she started to count to herself in quiet whispers. Though the sound of her heart was louder than the words that were escaping her lips. How to escape? How to run? How?
She started to hear the screams fade. She started to smell a clearer air. She started to see light blinding her eyes that were covered with darkness. But what was that in the background? A shadow blocking the light. A shadow of a person. A person who looked tall, muscular, yet strange in some way, without even seeing its face. There was a strange aura from the thing. But then the thing spoke. Its voice sounded rough and deep. It sounded unnatural. "Don't run" It spoke "Don't hide" The shadow lifted what looked like a hand "Don't even move" The figure whispered the last word, the females heart sped a million beats, unable to run like it said unable to hide like it said and unable to move like it said.
Suddenly a huge gust of wind filled the area around her. The shadow figure seemed to vanish with the wind. Then it went silent. Not even a slight sound went past her ears. She closed her eyes trying to regain her breath back.
"Jessica!!!" A voice shouted as the female suddenly opened her eyes. She was in bed. She was covered in sweat, from head to toe. Was that a dream? a nightmare? It didn't feel like one. It felt so real. Like she was actually standing there. "Jessica Ann!!" The voice shouted again "Get your ass out of bed!!" It was her mother. Of cause. Who else would shout her full name so loud that the whole town could hear.
Jessica groaned and rubbed her head. She was still in shock. As she sat up on her bed, vision's of what just happened pounded in her head. She told herself "it wasn't real, it wasn't real, it wasn't real" Repeating the three words over and over. Her slender pale fingers ran through her long black hair, as one foot then the next slid of her bed. She stood up and lightly yawned. "Why am I tired? I don't even remember sleeping" She thought to herself. She walked to the mirror and smiled a little, looking at her tired eyes and tired face. She really wasn't ready to go to school. Not after what happened. Not after what she saw.
See Jessica was your average 17 year old. Well as average as she would see herself. She had long black hair that reach to about her hips. Her skin was pale, it didn't even tan on hot days, nor did it burn. She really didn't enjoy having pale skin when most females at her school had perfect sun kissed skin. Jessica was in her last year off school and couldn't wait to leave. Her dream was to travel and see the wonders of the world. But she couldn't do that right now when she had exams to study for. Oh how fun that was. Study. Eat. Sleep. Every single day. No time for friends but Jessica wasn't the popular type, she had a small circle but that was all. There was Jason. Your average geek who was into comics and superhero's. Everyday his face was stuck in a comic. Name it, and he has read it. He was pretty tall and slim, with black rim glasses always stuck on his nose. His hair was a golden blonde and messy even if he tried to brush it, it still had the messy look. Then there was Lilly. The shy one of the small group. Her usual casual wear was a grey jacket with holes at the bottom of the sleeves from chewing them so much. She had orange hair that went to her shoulders, it was shiny and soft, yet she always covers it with the hood on her jacket. Lilly rarely spoke in the group, she just hugged her arm and smiled every now and again. Though she was kind-hearted and a helpful friend. Lastly there was Ruby, the bad girl of the group. She had pitch black hair like Jessica but shorter, just under her ears, and the tips of it was blue. She always wore ripped black jeans and carried a bad attitude with her. Ruby grew up with Jessica. Jessica is the good girl. The one that can or well tries to put Ruby in her place when she is doing wrong. Their the closest friends out of the three.
As Jessica looked at the reflection of herself staring back, her phone began to ring. She snapped out of her insane thoughts and picked up her phone taking a breath. She looked at the name on her phone as her face became more pale than it usual was. 'Unknown' That is what it read. Her thumb shakily swiped across the screen answering the call as she slowly put it to her ear. "Hello?" Her voice box stuttered. Silence. Like there was no one else on the other end of the line. "Hello?" She repeated a little louder and calmer. Was this prank? A friend just messing with her? "Okay if this is Jason or Ruby, Stop it, right now is the time to call me creepily and stay quiet. So enough is enough" Jessica raised her voice and just before she ended the call, a long deep sigh was released out of the speaker rested against her ear. She quickly hung up and threw her phone onto her bed. 'Since that crazy nightmare Jess you have been acting weird and its only been 15 minutes since you woke. Calm down' She told herself taking a few deep breaths.
After she managed to calm herself she started getting ready for another horrid day in place where teenagers called hell. But for Jessica it was more of an escape. With a swing of her arm she placed her panda rucksack on her back, fixed her hair and outfit, then headed downstairs. Her foot touched the last step as her mother yelled "About time you rose from the dead bitch!"
Jessica tensed and took a breath. The house was a mess. Bills were all over the floor. Old clothes and odd socks laid there as if it was a graveyard for laundry. You see. Jessica's mother was not kind nor anything of a mother. This was also another reason why Jessica couldn't wait to leave.
Lucinda, Jessica mother, was an alcoholic. Not only that, when she was drunk Jessica had to deal with the anger and pain. Jessica doesn't let that bring her down. It makes her stronger. Makes her look forward to moving away. To travel the world. Just because her mother was like the way she was, it never stopped Jessica being a bright young lady.
