"...1." A gun shot rings out into the air, "And their off!"
My breath turns ragged as I crawl through the small vent. My night vision flickering on and off as blood drips off my nose. I can hear the boos and the cheers as the race goes on. Why my government decided to challenge Earth to games, I will never know. Why Earth accepted against its inhabitants wishes is another unknown thing. A noise goes off on my right. Signalling me to my preys whereabouts. Now that I have a general direction, I can hear her labored breathing. I turn right and continue before hearing a vent shaft open on my left. I follow the sound and come to an opening that leads to a storage area by the stands. My eyes zoom in on a drop of blood, I leap down landing on my hands and feet.
"As the runners run their last five laps, I would like to thank everyone for their support of the First Annual Proximalympics between Earth and Proxima B. Thank every..."
I look up to see the human running under the stands, dodging the support poles. I smirk, locking on to my prey before jumping onto the highest bar, leaping to the next one. All to soon, i am racing in front of her, I finally leap down landing in front of her. My black eyes meet her blue ones, as she skids to a stop almost tripping on the bar in front of her. I look her over and my eyes widen seeing only a teenager in front of me.
"Four laps to go, in the lead is Dishana from Proxima and in second we have Casey from Earth..."
I wipe my forehead before noticing the small remote locked firmly between her thumb and forefinger. I squint before kicking my leg up catching a bar above me. I swing towards her causing her to trip backwards. I flip from the bar, right before I land, she kicks out causing me to fly back. I hit a bar, knocking the air from my lung. She looks at me frightened, before running for the exit. I groan, rolling to my right standing. I give chase before tackling her to the ground.
"Three more laps left before the end of the Proximalympics. The Earth government would like..."
She screams hitting her shoulder on the hard concrete, but the cheering drowns it out. I grab the hand holding the remote and slam her hand against the bar in front of us. She cries out pulling her leg between us and kicks out, sending me into the beam above me. I fall back down as she rolls away.
"You can't stop us." She walked around me with wide eyes, her southern accent strong. "We are the new Earth! We are The Next Generation, and we can not be stopped. You kill one of us, three more shall come of age to serve in our place."
"Only two laps to go in what will go down in history as the best thing in..."
She squats near my head smiling softly, still holding that damned remote. "You see, if we blow the finish line as the first runner hit the end, no one will know who did it. If a Proximaling finishes first, the Earth will be blamed. If an Earthling wins, Proxima B will be the one at fault. An intergalactic war will start before anyone can really find out who did it, and by then it will already be to late." She laughs and starts to stand when I shoot my hand out, slamming the heel of my hand into her throat. Her hands fly up to her throat, as the remote flies across the small space before hitting a beam beside me. I groan rolling to my side, holding my palm to me temple. I spot the remote a few feet away from me. I reach for it, rolling on to my knees. Out of no where her boot comes flying past me knocking the remote from my reach. I look up to see her foot coming at my face. Stars dance across my vision as my head slings back. Green oozes from the cut. She ran towards the remote snatching it up.
"One lap to finish folks and we can call an end to the games..."
I hear her laughing a few feet away from me. I look up in enough time to grab her foot from hitting my face again. I cringe twisting her foot backwards. I pull myself to my feet grabbing her arm, twisting it behind her back. I feel her elbow give way as it snaps out of place. Her cries were drowned out by the cheers in the background. My head throbs as I push her away from me, and watch her slump to the ground. I limp towards the remote and pick it up off the ground. I slam it to the ground and bring the heel of my foot against it.
"And Dishana from Proxima wins! Callie from Earth comes in second with Casey from Earth in third place! This brings an end to what will be the first of many games in the future." I hear fireworks shoot and explode above us. I limp towards the girl and cuff her to one of the poles. I dig into my pocket pulling out my projector. I snap a picture of my capture and send it along with the location to security.
I walk back to the storage area and swing back up into the vent. As soon as I shut the vent lid The door on the other end busts open and I can hear shouting and see flash lights moving around.
Good work boss. Another one down. Get back to base before people find out who is responsible. We weren't even suppose to be here in the first place. But you saved a member and that's all that matters. See you back at the ship.
